Yep, this is probably my favorite matchup (besides PHI-PIT obviously).

I think it is because you have more shootout wins. Probably the only time in these past few weeks that you TOR fans will be happy about having more wins than somebody, haha.

Just awful

Telling Laynce Nix (#5 hitter with 3 career bunt attempts) to bunt (and bunting with the middle of the order multiple other times). Pinch hitting Jim Thome for JMJ in the 8th inning, which also weakens the defense at 2 positions. Letting Kyle Kendrick and Joe Blanton pitch late innings in a tie game while Jonathan Papelbon sits idly because there is no "save situation". Not Charlie's finest evening.

At the time of Laviolette/Berube's comments, the Flyers were 4-1 against PIT this year, coming off a big win.

I have no opinion about their whining. None. I am not on the ice, so I do not know one way or the other. But since you mention "goons", I actually think that may be a better way to describe the Penguins these days...

Understandable. But this one happens to be completely true.

How do you know? Do you have a private mic down on the ice that only you have access to? In the same week, two NHL coaches called them out for whining to the refs. Many players have done it in the past. I will take their word for it, since they and only they would know for sure.. Honestly though, the truest part of the Torts rant was about how arrogant that team is. Total hypocrites. They throw sucker punches, slashes, and dirty knee on knee hits all day long, then they (and their fans mostly) cry foul when somebody knocks Crosby down, as if they have no idea why it happened.

Hahahaha thank god this game means nothing. Zac Rinaldo given a 5 minute major and game misconduct for....um, well, I am still trying to figure that part out. Not even mad, just laughing. Totally get why the refs want the Rinaldo types off the ice today, but that was a pretty lame way to do it.

Major props for Torts for having the balls (and wallet) to say that. Whether or not it comes off as whining, that's up for interpretation, but he did not say one thing in that rant that is inaccurate.

Also, Nik Grossmann signed to a contract extension. Still awaiting details.

Tomorrow will be weird. Playoff preview, but the game means nothing for either team. Hoping the Flyers rest a bunch of guys. The Penguins have been dirty as hell this week, don't want to risk any injuries. Not just saying this as a dig at PIT, it is a legitimate concern. All of these "accidental" knee-on-knee hits are getting ridiculous.

This week, the Flyers and Rangers coaching staffs each called out the Penguins for being dirty and being whiners. Good to know the Flyers aren't alone!

Chris Perez is horrendous. And always has been. Figured Vinnie Pestano would be their closer before too long. Did not figure it would be after 1 game.
