Prince Fielder Finally gets his Dough !!! Big Big Bucks !!!
Phightins replied to raptorgaetano's topic in Baseball Forum
Gotta be really cool for all the DET fans who were around for the Cecil days. -
So, I am pretty sure ECN fell even deeper in love with Tim Thomas today, if that is even possible....
-
No Hawes, no Vucevic, and possibly no Brand. Well, shit.
-
Screwed by refs all game, lose in shootout. Is there a more infuriating combo? Jesus.

Worst officiating I have seen this season. Voracek called for tripping on a clean hit (no leg contact at all), Seguin scores on PP. Then Coburn taken out of play illegally by Horton....textbook interference, but no call, and Lucic scores as a direct result. Then Bryz gets mauled, fights back a bit, and he gets the only penalty. 3-1 Boston, 2 incredibly BS goals. Awesome. Not to mention Chris Kelly getting away with a textbook instigator. Schenn leveled Kampfer on a clean hit and Kelly start a fight.
-
Only bright spot of all these injuries....really looking forward to seeing Schenn and Couturier get to work on the top 2 lines. Couts in particular. We've seen flashes of brilliance from the Read-Couturier-Simmonds line the past two games.

I think Onward State had the report first. Those are the guys who made a mockery out of sports journalism at the Paterno firing press conference, so I am not surprised that they are making a mockery out of journalism tonight either. Still pretty shocking that CBS would confirm.
-
Sure enough, Heat blow it open right on cue. Was a solid fight for nearly 3 quarters, but we don't have a prayer without a legit big.
-
CBS reported about an hour ago that he had died. When CBS reports it, you're supposed to take it as accurate. But then a half hour ago a family spokesperson said the report is false. But by that time the damage was done and it was circulating. Guessing you saw something about the original report.
-
So yeah, if Brand is at the 5 for the rest of this game, we are toast.
-
Ah, shit. Please be OK, Nik.
-
Not dead yet. CBS shit the bed on the story. Pretty sad reflection on the state of news reporting these days.
-
It's actually called "lung cancer".
-
Wild 6 months.
-
Sure enough, Ben Holmstrom and Tom Sestito called up.
-
Hard to go into this game with high expectations.

Terrible Officiating in Nets-Clippers Game: 1/16/2012
Phightins replied to Teletopez's topic in Brooklyn Nets Team Forum
Not trying to sound insensitive or dismiss your claims or anything, but I think this is a league-wide issue. Every team is going through this at one time or another, so that's probably why you're not going to find much sympathy from fans of other teams. Seems like I am seeing officials having bad nights a lot this year. I understand why you are frustrated though. Hell, just look through any old Sixers game thread and chances are you will find me complaining about the officials at some point (see: Denver game/Violet Palmer). Look at it this way. In an 82 (66?) game schedule, there will be games where you get screwed by the refs, and an equal amount of games where you benefit from the refs. I don't have a formula, but I feel like it definitely evens out. You'll get one back at some point. Also, maybe my campaign to have officials from all of the 4 major sports replaced by robots will start to pick up steam... -
Jagr groin and Briere concussion in the same game. And Rinaldo gets hurt also. Unless they want to roll with 7 defensemen, at least two Phantoms will need to be called up for the Bruins game tomorrow. Not good at all.

Most impressive win of the season, IMO. Playing a good team without Spencer Hawes. Sixers played terribly in the first half, easily could have mailed it in. Coming off the Denver loss on Wednesday, and with Miami on the horizon tomorrow night, getting a W was huge. Fantastic job.

Speaking as a hockey fan (the NHL's current national TV deal is with NBC/NBC Sports Network), trust me, the NBA has it great with the current setup. So much more exposure.

I showed the picture to a girl at work and she almost threw up! Should leave a pretty badass scar though.

Generally not wise to wait until the final 10 minutes to begin playing hard. If Bob wasn't playing out of his mind again (or if we were playing any team other than the Islanders), this could have easily been a 6-1 or 7-1 game. Really rough games for Giroux and Schenn in particular. Bad turnovers all over the place. On a side note, John Tavares is very good.

Good luck. That's what I said about the Winter Classic this year and I still got shut out (and I live 10 minutes from the stadium). Ticket pricing is absurd. Even though there will be 110,000 tickets to be sold, I'd imagine pricing will still be ridiculous.

On a side note, Evan Turner is awesome. Just wish I was in a better mood to celebrate this. So frustrating.

And this one really stings.
