The Mariners are on the verge of trading for a "young impact hitter" according to Jerry Crasnick. Lots of chatter that it may be a Jesus Montero-for-Michael Pineda swap.
-
Jrue with an awful turnover on the second possession, and Collins goes straight to Lou. Sending a message I guess.
-
Yeah, Vucevic really has been a pleasant surprise. Mostly because I had basically no expectations.
-
Maybe. Personally I am warming up to it from a Flyers perspective. It comes down to positional value. Seems like a trade where both teams could greatly benefit. But, who knows if this deal was/is ever actually on the table, or what the full details are.
-
Now the report is he has been traded. EDIT: Damn barely beat by BFT!
-
Jeez. Shit is gettin' real.

This relates to two of the most talked about teams here, and I wasn't sure which thread to post it in so I'll just put it here... Lots of JvR for Luke Schenn chatter today. It's obvious why the Flyers want Schenn, but I really don't want to trade JvR (or any of our young forwards). This is why I have always been more in favor of going after a Tim Gleason or Bryan Allen type, but Holmgren has always been a fan of making a big splash. And Brian Burke has always coveted JvR, supposedly, so I guess the interest there isn't surprising. What do you guys (specifically the Toronto guys) think?

I work at a hotel. And I am going to school trying to get a business degree.

Full roster: http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=76666 The fact that Ovechkin is there over multiple other forwards having better seasons tells you what the NHL's real goal is here. And I am OK with that. In America (and I assume Russia) Ovechkin single handedly generates TV ratings and merchandise sales. (Although it would be nice to see guys like Hartnell, Kris Versteeg or James Neal get a chance to play). Also I am pretty stoked for the rookie game.
-
And just as I post this, it's announced that Hartnell is not on the roster. Injury replacement maybe? One can hope!
-
All Star Game rosters will be announced today. Which means there will inevitably be bitching by fans of 29 of the 30 teams (Ottawa being the exception). Personally, I don't put any stock into any ASGs anymore, and I just enjoy them for what they are (a fun celebration of the sport). Although it would be AWESOME to see Scott Hartnell make it this year. Mostly so we can see (and laugh at) him in the skills competition.

Taylor, Carrasco, and Drabek turned into Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee, so I am not complaining! And BTW Drabek is still going to be filthy, although losing Travis D'Arnaud was the worst part of that trade...
-
Nationals wouldn't shock me, mostly because Mike Rizzo has shown a tendency to be careless with money, and also because he seems to have a good relationship with Scott Boras.
-
Obviously there are a few exceptions (Reyes, Wright). But Pelfrey, Humber, Gomez, and Martinez (probably a few more I can't think of right now) were all given way too much hype. I guess it's because of the NY media. But hey at least you guys turned two of those guys into Johan.

Entertaining game. Hard to win when Hawes is not playing and Lou is giving you nothing. Two pretty big pieces not contributing. Oh wellz.
-
Are they seriously going to re-set the shot clock here?
-
It would be cool if Andre would learn to shoot free throws one of these years.
-
And now the Sixers are giving up. Or the schedule is catching up to them. One or the other, but it isn't pretty.
-
Awful officiating. How do you reverse that clear path foul? Replay showed it was clearly the right call, then the officials review it and overturn it? Ugh, come on!
-
Thad was just pushed to the ground, Carmelo "trips" over Thad's legs, and Thad is called for the foul. OK then. Entertaining yet infuriating game.
-
Turnovers and missed easy shots doesn't seem to be the best recipe for victory.
-
Brutal quarter.
-
3rd game in 3 nights. No Spencer Hawes. Not entirely sure what to expect.

Pshh....nerd. -
This can be said about basically every Mets "top prospect" from the past decade.
