Yep, and he apparently left money on the table from the Marlins. The Marlins will be thankful in a few years that Wilson did not take their 6 year offer.

Certainly true.

Bumpski Those damn Yankees, always buying the best players....
-
Good thing Kingfish's Angels will never buy success like those dirty east coast teams, huh?
-
Claude Giroux is pretty good, you guys.
-
Seemed for a while like Madson might accept arbitration. He officially declined just now, pretty much officially ending his time as a Phillie. So long, Mad Dog.
-
Buehrle seems like an obvious candidate to decline soon and decline big time. Bad strikeout rate, gives up a lot of hits. Not usually a recipe for a long career. The Marlins have gone off the deep end. A 1 or 2 year deal for him would be the longest I'd consider going. 4 is ridiculous.

I have absolutely no idea. But I saw a similar stat the other day. The Flyers haven't lost a road game in which he scores a goal in regulation in over a full calendar year. When I first saw it, I dismissed it as some stupid, meaningless stat. But maybe there is something to it, who knows. Never really thought about it.

JvR back tonight. Brayden Schenn out with some undisclosed injury. Also, in some cool news, Bernie Parent announced he will play in the WC alumni game.

Jason Kapono to Lakers for veteran minimum

He kind of sucks these days. But at least you guys won't be overpaying him to suck like the Sixers did! -
So, the Mark Buehrle contract is awful. If the Marlins still give CJ Wilson 6 years on top of it, this turns from an exciting offseason for them to a veryyyy irresponsible one.
-
I don't believe this is the case. At least it isn't what is being reported.
-
Yeah it is very interesting. Looks like they left themselves with some options in case Phoenix moves by having 16 teams out west and 14 east. If they come east, they could easily be put in either "conference", and it would balance out the east/west thing. If they stay out west, the NHL still has the option of moving Detroit/Columbus/Nashville to one of the eastern conferences.

Initial thought...I am not a huge fan. Maybe this will grow on me. I am mostly upset because the Flyers northeast rivalries will be totally gone now. Not to mention, our road to the postseason is significantly tougher than it is for, say, the Bruins.

So...big news today. NHL realignment officially approved. Going to 4 "conferences". 1. Canucks, Flames, Oilers, Kings, Sharks, Ducks, Avalanche, Coyotes 2. Red Wings, Blues, Blackhawks, Jets, Wild, Stars, Predators, Blue Jackets 3. Flyers, Devils, Rangers, Islanders, Penguins, Capitals, Hurricanes 4. Bruins, Maple Leafs, Sabres, Canadiens, Senators, Lightning, Panthers Much more logical for travel purposes (except for Tampa and Florida, that is kind of weird). Also, every team will play every other team at least twice per season.

Especially one that is most likely going to completely suck before his contract is half over.

I actually feel bad for the Mets. Can't believe I am saying that. All they get for Reyes is a sandwich pick and a 3rd rounder. Seriously, on what planet is Heath Bell worth more compensation than Jose Reyes? Thank goodness this is getting phased out with the new CBA.
-
Jose Reyes is close to signing with the Marlins for 6 years and $110M. Damn...
-
Phillies sign Laynce Nix for 2 years. Should round out the bench. Not crazy about giving him 2 years though. Amaro loves 2 year deals for random bench guys.
-
The Sabres are officially the bitchiest team in the NHL. If it wasn't official already...
-
Couple things today: -Heath Bell has signed for 3 years with the Marlins (bad signing IMO). -Magic Johnson is supposedly part of a group trying to buy the Dodgers.
