Apparently Jamar Chaney and Casey Matthews are looking very strong so far in training camp (Chaney in particular). This excites me as much as anything I've heard.

If they had Heyward in the outfield instead of Prado, that might be the most athletic outfield in the modern era.

Scott Mathieson was designated for assignment today, despite having a minor league option remaining. So I guess the 5 year Mathieson project has finally come to an end. Kind of sad, I was rooting for him. This move clears up a spot on the 40 man roster. Have to wonder if a trade is coming. Or maybe Michael Schwimer is getting called up (which would be fantastic...1.73 ERA, 81 strikeouts in 62.1 IP in AAA this year).

And today he goes to AAA. Wow.

Just seemed like retaliation for the Utley ball flip from the NLCS. When a MLB pitcher with decent control hits a guy square in the back with a fastball, especially when you factor in the "history" and the fact that the score of the game was just blown open...seems a bit too convenient. But who knows.
