  1. Not many top prospects have flamed out as badly as Andrew Miller has. Tonight - 2.2 IP, 7 ER, 5 walks, 5 hits. Actually, looking back to the Miguel Cabrera trade...what a steal DET got. Miller and Cam Maybin were both crazy good prospects back then and both have flamed out big time.
  2. CarLOLs Marmol You know it's bad when Sean Marshall is coming in to face Mike Stanton, just so that Marmol can be removed from the game.
  3. Stefanski is rumored to be one of the leading candidates for the Toronto GM job. One of the new owners (Jason Levien) is a former assistant-GM in Sacramento. So it makes sense that he'd want to move into some sort of basketball-operations role here. There's been a lot of speculation that new ownership would want to clean house in the front office, so I guess that's why Ed is looking for other jobs. Wonder if Thorn will be the next to go. Also, Liberty Ballers pointed out that if Stefanski gets the Toronto job, 2 of our 4 Atlantic Division rivals will be run by ex-Sixer GMs. Not sure how I feel about that.
  4. I will be completely honest. I have a double standard, just because I do not give two shits for the Pro Bowl .
  5. Lots of assumptions there. The bottom line is that he was voted in. Should be his duty to show up, whether he played or didn't play.
  6. MLS isn't even close, as iBoldin said. Attendance figures are completely irrelevant when teams in one league play less than 20 home games, and teams in the other two play 41. It's about supply and demand.
  7. The All Star Game is all about PR, though. Regardless of if he is going to play, not bothering to show up at all seems like a big "F U" to the millions of fans who voted you in, or your peers who selected you. Just my opinion. There were several other injured players who showed up. I am sure their week could have been better spent at home working with their personal trainers too. This seems especially true with Jeter, considering the 3,000 hits thing. I am sure there were many fans who'd have enjoyed to see him honored in front of the entire baseball world. I don't think it's as huge a deal as many people are saying. I just think it was pretty lame on Jeter's part. Don't murder me now, Yankee fans!
  8. I am on the "Jeter should have gone" side. If players who are voted in by the fans can decide for themselves whether or not they show up, then we need to get rid of fan voting completely (well, this actually isn't such an awful idea...). He is not an all star this year by any stretch, but the fans still voted him in. They wanted to see him. So just go. For the record, I like Jeter a lot. I think this was some poor judgment though.
  9. And this is done. Pending NBA approval.
  10. Yeah, what Kyle said. I believe list of possible guys was exchanged, and now they get something like 150 days to settle on them. I think a lot of factors will play in (K-Rod's performance, whether or not that option kicks in, etc).
  11. Also, the "players to be named later" don't need to be settled on until after the season. So whether or not that vesting option kicks in will probably help determine who the Mets get...
  12. I don't think any team in their right mind would trade for K-Rod at $17.5 million, plus whatever is remaining for this year.
  13. Axford probably. I believe K-Rod needs 21 more "game finishes" this season for his guaranteed $17.5 million option for next season to kick in. So they will be very careful with that.
  14. And they probably respond with "wait, who the [expletive] likes both the Patriots and 49ers?".
  15. Hopefully in the new CBA they can figure out a way to prevent this game from "counting".
  16. Five Phillies/Braves pitchers get used, but all of the Giants get to chill and rest. Bochy'd
  17. Oh, I know. I am just pissed he threw that many pitches. I'd have liked to see him throw one easy inning and be done with it.
  18. Cliff Lee threw 25 pitches....absolutely the last thing I wanted to see. [expletive] you, Bochy.
  19. He actually has a vocal cord virus. True story.
  20. My goodness, Tim McCarver is an idiot (duh). "Adrian Gonzalez is hands down the AL MVP. Screw Bautista, his team is in 4th place". Then five seconds later, he says Matt Kemp is probably the NL MVP...
  21. How much self promotion can Fox possibly do in 30 minutes? I think we just found out...
  22. 1. Isn't even close... http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_nhl_experts__68/ept_sports_nhl_experts-470900845-1279464925.jpg?ymdnKeDD77yDOHSK No explanation needed. 2. http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/New+York+Yankees+v+Philadelphia+Phillies+Game+gqbYI0n76EGl.jpg Game 4, '09 World Series. Pedro Feliz hit a huge homerun to tie the game late, then Johnny Damon steals two bases with nobody covering third. Would have tied the series if we won that, instead we went down 3-1... 3. http://www.tampabay.com/multimedia/archive/00042/C4S_eagles102108_42822c.jpeg Last game at the Vet. And nobody will ever convince me that the Eagles wouldn't have destroyed the Raiders in that Super Bowl... I am a Philadelphia fan, I could probably rattle off a ton more. But these stand out more than the others.
  23. He never gets defensive about Jeter. So I doubt you will get an argument from him.
