  1. Hm, I thought east coast sports fans were the "worst"? When is the last time you saw shit like this happen in Philly, NY, or Boston?
  2. JC Romero DFAd. Definitely time to move on. Thanks for the contributions in '07 and '08.
  3. Slightly more complex than that. But it's a fun headline.
  4. What an embarrassment for the Canucks. How can you just not show up for game 7 in your own building? Wow. Congrats to the Bruins though, Tim Thomas in particular. What a cool guy.
  5. Boston really needed another championship BAD. Not sure how any Boston sports fans were able to live with themselves during that 3 year drought -_- But for real, congrats to ECN and all of the real Bruins fans (AKA not Bill Simmons). Can't even imagine how awesome that is.
  6. The Marlins loaded up their lineup with left handed batters and still got shut down by Kyle Kendrick. What the [expletive]? Anyway, if this Phillies offensive surge is even slightly sustainable, this team is in damn good shape.
  7. First 4-HR game of the year. Utley and Howard look locked in. Moar plz.
  8. I think it all depends on how many years these leagues are around. As long as they are around, there will be fans, and as long as there are fans, I feel like the legends will be remembered. You make a good point, though. A lot of records will most likely be shattered at some point, but names like Ruth and Gretzky and Jordan are too iconic to just be forgotten, as long as there are sports fans. It's a very interesting thought though.
  9. If these sports are still around, I see no reason why these guys wouldn't be remembered by sports fans. The leagues all do a pretty nice job of preserving their history. It's easy to forget how relatively "new" all of these sports are. None have been around for anywhere close to 600 years yet, so I guess we don't have any way of knowing. But I don't see why not.
  10. Also, the Yankees signed Brian Gordon today. Minor league veteran. He had been on the Phillies AAA team. Had some weird clause in his contract where he could opt out at a certain date if he could find a team to sign him to a Major League deal. So, he will be going to the big leagues with the Yankees. Pretty sick numbers in Lehigh this year.
  11. Lol @ the idea of Diesel being a Phillies fan. I want to kill myself every time he mentions baseball to me.
  12. Mike Stutes is a bamf. Love the direction this bullpen is headed.
  13. Chase Utley's timing appears to be back. Such a pretty sight to see him hit when he is locked in.
  14. I do not know what HF Boards is, but okay. And this argument is not a hockey argument, it's common sense. "Oh hey, I know a handful of people in Alberta, so their opinion must be shared by everyone else there. Just like since Phightins is from Philadelphia, he must throw batteries at opposing players and vomit on little girls." Just stop, you are being so silly.
  15. Now 70 pitches in. Not one swing-and-miss. Not good at all.
  16. Calgary has a population of 1,000,000 people. The Calgary Flames have 14,000 season ticket holders, and a waiting list of over 5,000. So stop acting like you have your finger on the pulse of that city just because you have a few friends there . You don't. That is seriously the funniest thing you have ever said. ECN, me, or even some random American who doesn't know the first thing about hockey (such as Jim Rome, who has talked about this very topic) is as qualified to talk about this as you are. But I have heard from various bloggers and reporters (whose opinions I do trust) that there is indeed a very large group of western Canadian hockey fans who want to see the Canucks lose.
  17. As I have said in the past week, I am very concerned with Roy O. His swing-and-miss rate has been way down this year. For his first few starts, he was able to get away with it, but it is now catching up with him. He can't pitch to contact regularly and do well.
  18. Or, the more likely scenario, he was stopping by to say "hi" to some friends on the team.
  19. Oh goodness, I would absolutely despise Alex Burrows if I was a fan of a western conference team...
  20. This is the only Iguodala rumor I've heard that I like to any degree, for the record. Anybody expecting a significant haul for him can pretty much forget it. It isn't going to happen. If the idea is to move his contract (and assure we have a ton of cap space for the summer of 2013) and open up some space for Turner to develop, this trade really wouldn't be the worst thing. But at this point, I'd probably just keep him.
  21. Pure salary dump. Unfortunately, that is probably the best bet. NBA trading sucks balls.
  22. Can't believe I am rooting for a Boston team. What the hell is wrong with me? Well, I want a good series more than anything. So that begins with the Bruins winning tonight.
