  1. Down to the 3 aces, I am afraid to say. I am very concerned with Roy Oswalt. Not sure what the deal is, but his velocity/swing and miss rate is way down. Finally caught up with him last night.
  2. Bryzgalov. Wowzer. That sort of came out of nowhere...
  3. Harper grew up a Yankees, Cowboys, and Lakers fan. Wow.
  4. Bryce Harper is a [expletive]ing tool.
  5. http://www.libertyballers.com/2011/6/7/2211264/philadelphia-sixers-sold-sixers-for-sale-deal-imminent Blah. I don't like the sounds of this, but who knows. I am willing to give Harris a chance, since really, I know nothing about him, but early indications are that he is viewing the team as strictly an investment. And I never really bought into the whole "Ed Snider doesn't care about basketball" thing. We'll see. Plenty more to come of this story, I am sure.
  6. Drafted Larry Greene Jr. at 39. Most raw power of any high school bat in the draft, supposedly. Just watched some video and I was turned on. I was kind of hoping for Jackie Bradley Jr, but I am not complaining at all about Greene. They shouldn't have to pay much over slot to get him signed either.
  7. Sooo...yeah. At first glance I am not too crazy about this Ellis for Iguodala rumor, if it is just a 1-for-1 swap. Need some time to think about it though. But I guess I'd rather do this than the Andre/Turkoglu swap that's been talked about.
  8. Ellis basically is a Lou clone, IMO. Ellis just gets way more minutes, so his numbers are inflated.
  9. Haha I agree. If the Phillies weren't involved I'd be totally fascinated. Well, I am still fascinated, but slightly annoyed also. All of the baseball games I have seen in my lifetime, hard to believe there are still games where I see things I've never seen before.
  10. I don't understand why an umpire can make a judgment call on a ground rule double as to whether or not a base runner scores, but they can't on umpire interference. A runner on 3rd base is clearly going to score on a bullet single up the middle, no?
  11. Runner on 3rd, Dom Brown hits a bullet up the middle. Hits the umpire, so it's a dead ball, no run scores. Then Wilson Valdez grounds into a double play. Yeah, that happened. Unreal.
  12. Wilson Valdez is a very good fielder.
  13. So, the MLB Draft is this week. Not sure how many of you follow this, but if you do, what is your wish list for your team? The Phillies lost their first round pick due to the Lee signing, but they also picked up a supplemental pick as well as Washington's 2nd round pick as compensation for losing Werth. So even though we don't pick til 39, we have a handful of early-ish picks. I keep hearing Brandon Nimmo's name pop up in connection with the Phillies. He may need to fall a bit to reach 39, but he does seem like a typical early round Phillies hit. "Toolsy" outfielder, more athlete than baseball player, etc. I hear he wants a pretty substantial signing bonus, though, so that will probably scare a lot of teams away (Phillies included). Cameron Gallagher is a possibility also. Philly-area guy, great bat at a premium position (catcher). I keep seeing him projected as a late 2nd or 3rd rounder, so I guess I'd prefer to see them wait a bit on him, but I would not be surprised at all to see the Phillies reach at 39, similar to what they did with Jesse Biddle last year. Other than that, I have no idea. The Phillies scouts have typically earned their paychecks in the middle/late rounds in the past few years (Dom Brown, Jon Singleton, Jarred Cosart, Brody Colvin, etc). They don't like to overpay for one or two kids early, and I like how this strategy has worked out.
  14. Danys Baez, please retire. Or something. You are a [expletive]ing awful pitcher.
  15. Lineup tonight... Rollins Polanco Utley Howard Victorino Ibanez Brown Ruiz Hamels About as close to perfect as it can be. Well done Charlie.
  16. Victorino activated, Mayberry optioned. I see the logic (kind of), but it's pretty perplexing. I guess Michael Martinez is going nowhere because of his rule 5 status, but lets get real. Mayberry gets sent down in favor of a 28 year old rule 5 guy with a .416 OPS? Pretty odd.
  17. The Flyers somehow "lost" the rights to Joacim Eriksson, one of our goaltending prospects. Really, how the [expletive] does this happen? I really have a feeling that in 6 or 7 years, we will look back and say "how on earth did they let that guy get away".
  18. Two things: 1) I feel pretty awful for Scott Cousins. 2) Brian Sabean is a jerk. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=14128 This is some pretty fantastic ownage.
  19. Haha what an awful passed ball for Brown.
  20. http://www.philly.com/philly/columnists/rich_hofmann/20110602_Rich_Hofmann__NHL_knows_its_place__and_its_fans.html This is a very interesting/true article written by my favorite sports columnist.
  21. Why would I go out of my way to defend Hartnell? I think I have talked to you several times about how much I dislike him as a hockey player. Bergeron put his finger straight into Burrows' mouth. When somebody does that out of nowhere, it's a natural defensive reflex to bite down. So I don't see the huge deal.
  22. Maybe I am missing something that the rest of the world is seeing, but Bergeron put his finger straight into Burrows' mouth....
