  1. I don't know if I'll have time for it since I am already in too many, but just a heads up....20 teams is wayy too many for a one-league league.
  2. Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I don't see them winning a round, but I also see them being the toughest first round matchup of any team 5-8.
  3. Just drafted for my 12 team NL-only league (had the first pick): C: Ryan Doumit 1B: Albert Pujols 2B: Rickie Weeks 3B: Scott Rolen SS: Stephen Drew OF: Mike Stanton OF: Aubrey Huff OF: Logan Morrison Util: Cameron Maybin SP: Josh Johnson SP: Jonathan Sanchez RP: Craig Kimbrel RP: Matt Guerrier P: Jorge De La Rosa P: Bronson Arroyo P: Homer Bailey P: Nelson Figueroa BN: Wilson Valdez BN: Melvin Mora BN: Ross Gload BN: Barry Enright BN: Randy Wells Pretty happy.
  4. That was big. Needed the win badly, coming off the loss in Portland and with Miami up next.
  5. Agreed, mostly. I may have been pushing it by saying "contender". Perhaps the better wording would have been "a team with the ability to potentially win a round in the playoffs". Right now they are a nice young team who might make a contender sweat in the first round, but at the end of the day they are a first round exit. The best part about this Sixer team, compared to Sixer teams of the past half-decade, is that the strengths/weaknesses are clear. Not the huge cluster[expletive] they were a few years ago. Also not to mention, basically everybody in the rotation besides Brand and Iguodala is 24 or younger (and Iguodala is *only* 27), so I think they differ from the Bucks in that regard. But I do get your comparison. Semi-agreed. I think they waited a year or two too long to trade him. I was one of the few Sammy supporters when he was here, but by the end of last season I was thrilled to see him go. Not saying Hawes is better (Hawes is horrible, as I mentioned), but Sammy was one of the most frustrating players I have ever seen on any of my teams. There was so much potential there that he never lived up to, and there was more than a fair share of games when he gave off the "I just don't give a shit" vibe.
  6. A place for Sixers tidbits and random thoughts/ideas. I will start. Spencer Hawes sucks! If this team can somehow bring in a competent center for next season, they can be a legit contender. Seriously.
  7. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-simers-20110322,0,2566017.column One of the most disgraceful pieces of sports journalism I have seen in a while. Written by (no surprise) TJ Simers. Can't believe this man is still employed. But hey, I guess he still generates tons of page views for their website.
  8. Time for spring training to end. Guys are dropping like flies. Oswalt hit in the head with a line drive today. Sheesh, hope it isn't serious.
  9. Total domination and they don't get 2 points. Story of 2011. Can't afford to gift wrap two points to the Caps like that. Awful.
  10. That whole team is a mess. If you are going for a rebuild, go the distance. Maybe Murray figures he is gone this summer and decided to do something stupid before being shown the door? Hah.
  11. Can we just ban this clown for life? And yes, before I get jumped on by Universe and ECN, I am aware that the Flyers have several dirty players. But Cooke is in a league of his own.
  12. Yup. I love the Castillo move for the Phillies btw. 10 day tryout. If he winds up being worse than our other shitty 2B options, he gets released and the Phillies pay him $0. If he shows he is better than Wilson Valdez/Josh Barfield/Pete Orr (likely), he stays for slightly over $400K with the Mets picking up the other $5.5 mil +. At worst, he is cheap depth. Thanks Mets! But really, I think the Mets should have done this way sooner.
  13. Close to signing Luis Castillo. League minimum. Fine, whatever. He can challenge Josh Barfield and Wilson Valdez for playing time. Not like there was a more intriguing option out there. Biggest issue is that this seems like an admission that Utley will be out for a long time.
  14. Gustafsson sent back to Adirondack. Weird. No explanation given yet. Pronger can't possibly be ready to go yet...can he?
  15. Pretty impressed with the effort for the Sixers, considering all the odds stacked against them (second half of a back to back out west without their best player, against a good team in a tough building). Also, similarly, you don't totally appreciate how good Andre is until he is not in the lineup.
  16. http://deadspin.com/#!5783591 This is kind of funny/unfortunate.
  17. No Dre tonight. Smart move. He is dealing with the chondromalacia in his knee, it is the second night of a back-to-back, and there is a three day break after the game. So give him a nice amount of time to get healthy. It will also be fun to see ET get extra minutes.
  18. I'd say Brand's resurgence, Jrue taking another step forward, as well as finding role players that actually fit have been just as important if not more important. Not to take anything away from Dre though, he has been spectacular lately.
  19. Words can't really describe how great he has been for the past 3-ish months.
  20. Oh shit, totally forgot to bump this last night and thank the Flyers for taking my advice! Gus played well too!
  21. No, I just want you to stop talking out of your ass.
  22. Yeah. You won't find 9 pages of "hockey posts" preceding that or anything... Keep grasping for straws.
  23. I have never contributed anything of substance to this thread and I hate the Canadiens so much...
