Lupe did work.
-
Someone mentioned the possibility of this being an album kind of split into four segments: Beautiful, then Dark, then Twisted, then Fantasy. When you look at it, we've heard a few songs from the album, but none of them sound similar in that you can pick out an album theme or anything, so that could be why. Also, Kanye said the album is 'like a movie' though that could just be Kanye being Kanye. It's an interesting idea though. I really can't wait for this though. He has gained a lot of my respect over the past few months simply because of his hard work and attitude toward music and giving the fans what they want. There is no one working harder than him right now.

I can believe that. Lupe is not the type of person to want to make 'hit songs' like Atlantic is demanding out of him. I said that in my previous post. Making hit records usually involves you selling out on your style and giving the mainstream a dance song, something about money/sex/women/cars/swagga, a catchy kids-bop chorus, etc. That's not Lupe Fiasco. That's not what has made him successful and Lupe fans don't want that kind of music out of LASERS. He's made hit songs in the past (Superstar) without selling out and that song had a purpose within his entire album. Atlantic wants him to cut the complicated metaphors so the average listener can understand what he's talking about, make the song a mainstream topic, and throw someone like Drake on the hook so it'll be popular and he'll have a hit song so produce album sales. Lupe doesn't care about that. He explains all of this in "Dumb It Down". Just look at what Atlantic did to B.o.B. Lupe wants no part of it. He wants his way and he wants to please his fans with the same type of material that made them love him. Again, I firmly believe LASERS will be out sooner than people think, and he won't have to sell out in order to do it. Ultimately the people/fans will get what they want and that petition and the Fiasco Friday event later this month will force Atlantic's hand and give Lupe's people leverage. And Kanye's album is now dropping November 22nd.
-
It's Lupe's fault? Please. Atlantic is to blame. Lupe wants it released, it's been done for a year now, but Atlantic won't release it because it isn't what they want it to be like. That's a joke. That's not their job to decide. And I'm pretty sure people would rather not get any Lupe than have him sell out and release music. That defeats the purpose as to why they are fans of him. He'll stay true to himself and just drop mixtapes before he sells out and drops the album Atlantic wants, as he should. And, as of right now, I'd have to say LASERS probably will drop by the year's end. If not, then we'll at least have a date. A few people that appear to be 'in the know' are saying that the petition and Fiasco Friday event are working wonders. Kanye doesn't have a name or release date for his album. There is no 'tentative' album title. He just said a few days on Twitter that he doesn't know what his album should be called or when he will release it. It'll probably drop very soon though because he had four people with him mixing and mastering a few days ago after two of his songs leaked. He's trying to get it all done ASAP so the leaks don't hurt sales and anticipation.

Double post: couldn't fit all of the media tags in one post. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Clo74WY1D2Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS88jxG1CJo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIJa0KTFCQE

Exhibit A and Exhibit C were not released in 2010. Amazing songs, but Exhibit C was released in December of 2009 and Exhibit A was well before that, I believe. Now if we are going by the year that the project that these songs were made for was/will be released, then yep. I'd also throw in "Never Dream" and "Difficulties" from Blu's TheGodleeBarnes(LP) which dropped on New Year's Day and "Just Begun" with Jay Electronica and J. Cole from Reflection Eternal's album that dropped in May, but all of these songs were 2009 releases. Way too many good songs this year to say that one stood out, but here's a few... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nueG0jLMFA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgong9u1wxs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDbSy9MXz2o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBArDSs7TKs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLF55fcHvMU But yeah, we've still got several projects left this year that can produce some more great music: The Lost Tapes 2 - Nas Untitled Album - Kanye West Watch The Throne - Kanye West & Jay-Z Untitled Mixtape - J. Cole Untitled Album - J. Cole (if it drops this year) Act II - Jay Electronica (who knows when this will drop?) LASERS - Lupe Fiasco (my guess is it'll drop this year thanks to Fiasco Friday) NoYork! - Blu (who knows when this will drop?) Death Is Silent - Kno Tha Carter IV - Lil Wayne (if it drops this year -- there's always the slight chance he goes back to TCII plus he wants songs with Tech & Andre plus supposedly he was in the studio with J. Cole at one point) Detox - Dr. Dre (who knows when this will drop?) Then there's the crazy 'G.O.O.D. Fridays' collaborations. Then there's the "I'm Beamin'" remix with the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Blu, and J. Cole all on one track. The best may have yet to come.

Wayne & T.I. & Lil Boosie (it's a Louisiana thing) & Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz & Juvenile & B.G.
-
Why you hatin on Boosie, bruh?
-
Reasonable Doubt > 50's career. Not to mention The Blueprint.
-
J. Cole just tore this beat up.
-
It leaked? Definitely will check it out. Been looking forward to this for awhile now.
-
Fashawn is really good, and I really like the tape. Boy Meets World is one of my personal favorite albums of all-time. I wouldn't say he's 'by far' the best up-and-comer though. J. Cole and Blu say hello.
-
Meh. Not a big fan of it on a quick listen. I'll give it another listen soon. Grizzly City 3 >>> this

If you think Drake is deep, you should listen to J. Cole, Jay Electronica, Fashawn, Blu, etc. Same class of rappers, but a whole lot better than Drake. My answer to the OP, Cory Gunz > Drake + Nicki Minaj. Though I don't like anyone except for Wayne, and I haven't been much of a fan of Wayne in the past year or two because every song is the same 'story'. and LOL at "Fireman" or "A Milli" being labelled as Wayne's best song. "Tie My Hands", "How Can Somethin'", "Paradice", "Pray to the Lord", and "Something You Forgot" are better than those.

Can't wait for the Kanye/Jay EP. Two tracks down, three to go.
-
Jay-Z, Kanye, etc. aren't involved.
-
Yeah Kanye, Kobe, Mos Def, and Swizzy were all in the studio together a few days ago. Pretty epic. I'm really starting to hate Swizzy, tbh. His beats don't impress me, and I really don't like him talking on this track. The "I got the power" sample was nice though.
-
Yeah, that's the official video. Kanye said he's working on another video for the song though that'll be longer and more like your normal music video. Said somethin' about trying to recreate the Sistine Chapel in it.

Hard to narrow them down and I can't really put these in any particular order... Think Twice - J Dilla (J Dilla) Let Me Put You On The Game - The Game (Timbaland) Never Been In Love - Talib Kweli (Just Blaze) The World Is... - Blu (Exile) What You Know - T.I. (DJ Toomp) Hate It or Love It - The Game feat. 50 Cent (Cool & Dre) Fly In / Fly Out / Carter II - Lil Wayne (T-Mix & Batman) Tha Mobb - Lil Wayne (Heatmakerz) Lost Ones - Jay-Z feat. Chrissette Michelle (Dr. Dre) Long Time - The Roots (The Roots) Then various songs done by Premo, Kanye, Hi-Tek, J.U.S.T.I.C.E League, No ID, Mannie Fresh, and J. Cole.

GTFO with that [expletive]. Song Meaning Read that and educate yourself. There's so much genius behind this song it's not even funny. TBH, I was not a big fan of the song when it first dropped, but it slowly grew on me as I looked deeper into the lyrics. Then when the video dropped and I read up on the background of the song and the connection between what he's going through (Taylor Swift incident) with the Greek legend, it's just a phenomenal song in so many ways. The Illuminati claims are absolutely stupid. I'm getting tired of people just throwing around claims loosely on every Kanye / Jay-Z track posted on forums and blogs. It's old, it's incorrect, and there's no basis of these accusations. You can twist just about any artist's music and interviews around and make them seem evil.

Roc Nation.

Impossible for me to narrow this down. It changes so much. Right now, I guess... 1) Changes - 2Pac 2) Never Let Me Down - Kanye West f. Jay-Z 3) Show Me The Good Life - Blu f. Aloe Blacc & Joseph 4) Ecology - Fashawn 5) The World Is Yours - Nas

Like what I've heard so far. Love the Pimp C, 2pac, Trey Songz song. Only listened to 5 or 6 songs so far though, but it's good stuff.

Yeah, acapella is the technical word, I believe. haha. Heard the same. He tweeted that he was changing the title earlier today.
