  1. And today, two of those happened with Ryan Rowland-Smith.
  2. Well it wouldn't have been a perfect game because Smith hit a batter. And now the no-hitter is gone. And whaddaya know, the no-hitter is broken to start the inning.
  3. And one more thing. You hear people say how boring baseball is. One thing that makes it exciting is that the unexpected happens. The first game of this series, the Yankees have no trouble hitting off a pitcher with an ERA below 4, and the next day, they have no answer against a pitcher with an ERA of almost 7.
  4. Why not? He's watched Tim Duncan well before he started playing, and he models his game after Duncan's. He has range as well. You make it seem as if he's not a talented player when he put up great numbers with limited touches this past season. He finished third in ROY voting as a center. And now, he's impressing coaches at the mini-camp.
  5. Lopez and Harris are really opening people's eyes, Lopez especially. Link
  6. He wasn't lying about how much he'd be in the gym this offseason.
  7. He actually wasn't pitching too badly in his last few starts prior to the injury. His sinker was starting to dive more, and his outings may not have been stellar, but they were good enough for us to win games.
  8. A few things: 1) How did J-Bay's average tank that badly? At one point, I saw it hovering around .280, and then a few weeks later, I look and see that it's at about .250. 2) Is David Ortiz hitting the way Boston needs him to or is he just hitting for power at times? 3) Was today just a bad night for Nick Green at SS or is he not that good of a fielding SS? Also, that is a tough loss. Three run lead to start the ninth, Boston lets the runner move to second on defensive indifference, one out away with an unimportant runner on third, two errors, and the lead is gone. Then Boston was so close to tying it in the eleventh but couldn't.
  9. I've noticed some tendencies with no-hitters/perfect games being broken up: 1) they're often broken by the leadoff batter in an inning. 2) they're broken with a HR a lot. 3) the pitcher often has a rough outing after allowing the first hit. Usually, and as we saw today, one of these is met.
  10. - Fielding mistakes made CC's outing a lot worse than it should have been. - Swisher really needs to pick it up in the outfield. 2 plays should have been made that he didn't make. First, the sliding catch that was dropped, and the sliding probably wasn't necessary. Then, misplaying a line drive base hit that allowed runner to score from first. - We're finally seeing Cano take more pitches this season, but his buddy Melky, needs to take more in my opinion. Sometimes, he doesn't take enough pitches in an AB, and sometimes, he swings at the wrong counts. Anyway, as I said before, we're not going to win every game, and especially against a good offensive team that plays well at home, you can't expect things to be easy. What's important is that we bounce back tomorrow.
  11. He did have a rough outing, but on the bright side, Sabathia got his 1,500th K with 6 on the night.
  12. Buehrle's bid at a second straight perfect game is broken. Props to him for his 45 straight retired batters, though.
  13. Amazing job, RD. One thing, though, is it possible to bring back the small indicators for read and unread forums next to subforum names on the board index?
  14. I'm interested in knowing how Rubin will do his job before a new GM comes in.
  15. I don't understand what Minaya was implying by saying Rubin wanted a baseball job if it wasn't that Rubin broke the story so he could have Bernazard's job.
  16. I put the old YT channel up, it's only a matter of time before everyone has to switch to the new one, which I don't like a whole lot. I'll also upload some offseason clips once I fix my Firefox. But to all the members that weren't on the old OTR, subscribe if you have an account.
  17. I was just taking look at milestones, and I saw that today would be Mark Teixeira 1,000th career game. I also saw that today's starter, CC Sabathia, is four strikeouts away from 1500 for his career.
  18. Three games in Tampa Bay, from which we've won the first. Four games in Chicago against the ChiSox. Two games in Toronto. CC Sabathia (10-6, 3.67) vs. Scott Kazmir (4-6, 6.69) Joba Chamberlain (6-2, 3.86) vs. Matt Garza (7-7, 3.68) Another outstanding performance by Burnett yesterday, and great hitting off James Shields and the rest of the Rays pitching staff. Albaladejo has been getting hit terribly, and Robertson has been a bit shaky, though.
  19. It takes some time in a game before Mitre can get that sinker to dive. He needs to have that sinker working from the start so our offense doesn't need to put up 7 runs in order to win. However, a great homestand and an amazing start to the second half.
  20. Father worked behind the plate, son will be on the mound.
  21. The final hearings are this week, but Forest City Ratner does not have the architect's final renderings of the BC ready.
