Yanks want Chamberlain more aggressive in strike zone
Teletopez replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in Baseball Forum
He's been getting into a lot of 3-2 counts, and sometimes he totally loses control of the K-zone. I don't think he'll be a starter for the whole year, he'll likely reach his pitch count limit and go back to the bullpen with some of the season left. -
New York Yankees Or New York Mets Fans
Teletopez replied to EastCoastNiner's topic in Other Sports Discussion
A lot of the generalizations that are made about both teams' fans are incorrect, but there are some true ones. Yankee fans do have expectations, and usually aren't too patient. -
Is it possible to have the subforums listed under the main forum on the board index page?

Yankees @ Twins and Angels (7/7-7/12)
Teletopez replied to Teletopez's topic in Baseball Gameday Discussion
... And just when I thought I was over yesterday's loss. And there's already been enough damage done. Will our pitching at least keep the score as it is instead of making it harder for our offense to get back in the game? -
Link Yep.

Old Timers' Day is next Sunday. It seems like all the Yankee hitters that were slumping have started to hit better: Cano, Matsui, and A-Rod. Posada is also showing improvement.

This is great crowd support if, of course, you look at it from the Angels' perspective. You don't find this much dedication in a whole lot of stadiums. Hinske homers in both of his first two games as a Yankee, and A-Rod comes through again. But, of course, after watching last night's game, 3-0 doesn't indicate anything yet. -

How appropriate that Sanchez's dad was there for the performance. I was following the last inning on Gameday, so I just thought that the ball was hit to the track for the second out, I didn't know until I watched the highlights that Rowand leaped and caught it. Good stuff.

Oh and welcome back Molina. Good to see that he was using that arm to try and pick off runners several times. Marte is on his way back. I must say, beast play by Posada catching the ball with his bare hands after Figgins knocked his glove off. -
Yankees @ Twins and Angels (7/7-7/12)

A game like this really gets me furious. Two errors, including a dropped catch. Both of those hitters who reached on errors, came around to score, which always happens to us. We surrender two 3-run HR's, and you would think that Bruney would be a little more careful with Aybar, considering he had hit a ball right before that two feet shy of the pole. I don't care how hard our offense fights, our pitching can't do this badly, we need to be able to pick up fielders after they make errors. And fastball location was thumbs down for us as well. -
Okay then, that's the point we're trying to bring across. No one else has thrown a no-hitter against the Padres this year, so he deserves credit for it.
-
It doesn't matter what team it is. Having to face only one batter over the minimum is impressive whether or not it's the Padres. Even in a lopsided matchup, the underdog team manages to scratch out a couple of hits, so this is something worth talking about.

He got it! Oh so close to a perfect game, but the no-no stays alive. Sanchez was behind on the count 2-0 for the last two hitters and retired both. A total of 110 pitches, 77 strikes, and 11 K's.
-
A ground out and a deep flyout. One more out needed.
-
It must not be fun to be Juan Uribe right now. Breaking the perfect game with an error. The no-hitter is still alive, three more outs needed. Giants pitching is making news outside of Cain and Lincecum. Sadowsky had a scoreless inning streak going and now a no-hitter is near.

Five, quite sloppy days. CDR was consistent, and that was about it. T-Will couldn't build on yesterday's good performance. The only thing that could have been accomplished out of this combined team was individual performances. If that was accomplished in anyway, then yippee.

Boston lost yesterday, so both teams are tied for the AL East lead with a 51-34 record.

I'm referring to some others' posts in which the same incorrect point was being repeated. Well then I guess we pretty much agree for the most part. The points I was trying to bring across were that 1) it wasn't really much of an option between giving up Yi and Anderson if it meant getting Lee and 2) it wasn't a bad move. I wasn't sure if you agreed.
-
He's pointing out the importance of Anderson and how it was Lee for Ryan because there would be no Lee if there were no Anderson. It's not that they wanted Anderson more, Anderson just had to be sent to get Lee. Orlando, pretty much wanted to go back in time and swap picks. Yes but some can't seem to understand why we couldn't have just replaced Anderson with Yi in the trade.

First 10:00 game of the season tomorrow, joy. Tomorrow: Joba Chamberlain (4-2, 4.04) vs. Joe Saunders (8-5, 4.44)-10:05p EST All four of Joba's wins have come on the road. Saturday: Andy Pettitte (8-4, 4.53) vs. Jered Weaver (9-3, 3.15)-4:10p EST If Pettitte continues his good start-bad start pattern, this should be a good start. Also, a lot of his struggles start with the long ball, which there shouldn't be so many of since we're not at Yankee Stadium. Sunday: CC Sabathia (8-5, 3.70) vs. John Lackey (3-4, 5.18)-3:35p EST
