  1. Because, once again, the Magic specifically wanted Anderson. He wasn't just some random player that was thrown in for the heck of it. Orlando may have drafted him over Lee if the Nets didn't take him at 21.
  2. A big portion of this game was decided by walks and errors. That, however, settled down in the later innings. Aceves' first and third innings were smooth and quick, with the second and fourth the exact opposite. I still think he has a good shot at being a starter with the job he did last September. If it doesn't work out, he's still very effective out of the bullpen. Another nice job by Hughes in the seventh and eighth innings. I suppose Robertson and Albaladejo were shaky since they weren't comfortable with the situation they were put in. I'm shocked at Morneau's struggles in this series. He went 0-10 and took some unusual hacks in certain AB's. We may have finished 7-0 against the Twins, but a lot of these games were still hard fought.
  3. I know, I was just using Summer League as an example to show that it's not a carbon copy of what he'll be doing with the Magic, and that I don't believe this will come back to bite us significantly. And again, the Magic were probably requiring Anderson to be in the trade if it meant giving up Lee.
  4. Alfredo Aceves starts for us tomorrow against Francisco Liriano. Aceves had a great September as a starter last year and has been strong in the bullpen this season.
  5. Once again, great back-to-back pitching performances by CC and Burnett. And a nice job by our bullpen to keep the lead. Great game for Mauer with those two hard hit balls before an opposite field HR.
  6. http://i32.tinypic.com/2wd95cn.jpg That was quite a catch.
  7. I'm pretty sure admins can see the amount of posts each member deletes and can take care of the problem if it occurs.
  8. Ricciardi is probably going to listen to us and Boston, but he'll be asking for a lot as I said earlier. The Phillies probably won't have to give up as much AL East teams. Even Boston shouldn't want to trade for Halladay. They don't desperately need starting pitching as far as I know since Smoltz can give up five runs and their offense will still find a way to win. Plus, they shouldn't want to give up anyone from their strong bullpen. Unless their offense, which is stacked, can lose a few players.
  9. Been to: Old Yankee Stadium New Yankee Stadium Shea Stadium Citi Field Izod Center Carrier Dome Want to go to: MSG Wrigley Field Fenway Park
  10. Haha. The guy's a complete game machine against us. We've pretty much done nothing off him in the last two seasons except for a couple days ago when we got Yankee Stadium's help. We can take him off our schedules for most of the future if he goes to the Phillies or some other NL team. Then again... World Series, Game 1: CC Sabathia vs. Roy Halladay.
  11. It doesn't look like the Yankees have a shot at Roy Halladay. As awesome as the idea of getting him seems at first, it would not be so awesome. According to Mark Feinsand, if the Jays do in fact listen to offers within the division, the Yankees would have to give up a lot for Halladay, such as Hughes, Joba, and Austin Jackson. Toronto's two best pitchers from last year could reunite, but it still doesn't seem like it's worth it.
  12. Full Article Also, if it interests anyone, there were reports of the Nets going after CJ Miles, but it turns out that the Nets were interested in him before the VC trade.
  13. It wouldn't have been easy for this deal to go down if we didn't have Anderson in it. Orlando was very interested in Ryan Anderson with their 22nd pick in last year's draft. We, however, selected him at 21. I really liked Ryan and didn't want him to leave, but I don't see this coming back to bite us. Keep in mind that this is the Summer League and Ryan is in his second year. It would be pretty easy for him to dominate, being one of the better players on the crew and getting more opportunities to score. When he's with the Magic, like he said, he won't be the go-to guy. Plus, the opposing team's defense shouldn't be so weak. Then again, there's always the chance that with more motivation on his new team, he might become big, just like Eddie House did right after leaving NJ.
  14. Ryan Anderson put on quite a show today with 32 points. He almost broke the record for most points in a Summer League game (34 points, Travis Diener). He was doing it all, dominated inside, dominated outside, was strong off the glass. He's putting a smile on Magic fans' faces.
  15. Seems like the people involved aren't too crazy about this joint team... Full Article
  16. I sent Dante and Galante links about 20 times via Twitter and e-mail and they never gave a shoutout. They did, however, respond to one of my other e-mails.
  17. We've been playing well. Our hitters have good numbers at the Metrodome, and it's shown tonight. CC's been working quickly and changing speeds, signs of a comfortable pitcher. That was an amazing leaping catch by Carlos Gomez to take away an A-Rod grand slam a couple innings back.
  18. Is it just me or does the RTE tend to create extra spaces between paragraphs? It's a bit frustrating to use it.
  19. Sloppy game. I don't know how much this combined team is working out. We shot 34% as a team. There was still one bright spot, which was CDR going 8-14 and getting to the line 13 times for 27 points.
  20. Ground still hasn't been broken, and Ratner could sell the team before we move. And the Nets aren't prepared for financial troubles, they just cut one third of their staff.
  21. Jeter on being called out stealing third despite avoiding the tag: Interesting explanation by the umpire.
  22. Thanks to a rare Boston home loss, we remain a game back.
  23. Looking back at our previous series with Minnesota, it's hard to believe that we swept the four game series with the way Mauer and Morneau crushed us. Despite the fact that it's in the Humphrey Metrodome this time, I think it will be easier for us to pitch to the two since everything won't necessarily be hit out.
