Barclays Center Progress and Info
Teletopez replied to Teletopez's topic in Brooklyn Nets Team Forum
In case anyone is wondering, this is not the Barclays Center (that would be a major letdown, haha). The Nets used the Izod Center for laying out the floor, and someone leaked an image. -
Since we're discussing new Nets gear... Birthday gift earlier today:
-
The site that was selling that jersey wrote in the description that it is a fan design. Both home and away jerseys will read "Brooklyn."
-
Nope. Only way I see the jersey getting leaked is from 2K Sports. Nets have done a good job of keeping the designs in the dark.

I had a good laugh at this. I used to be a dedicated proponent of PS3 and critic of the XBOX. Considering how little time I give to gaming now, I would just take Sony in a heartbeat because of the exclusives. MLB the Show and both LittleBigPlanet games are among my all-times favorites. I'd like to go back and finish Metal Gear Solid 4 at one point or another. I loved Killzone 2... never got a chance to get the third one. And among the DLC, Wipeout is also amazing. I don't know much about Kinect, but I don't see motion gaming in general being more enjoyable than old-fashioned handheld with basic motion sensing (specifically, PS3's current wireless controller). I got Move solely because it was available for an unusually low price, and it's neat, but it's not something I'd play regularly.

A Letter to Michael Jordan (Sports Illustrated)
Teletopez replied to Real Deal's topic in General NBA Discussion
What's the point of making this an open letter? Not sure what the guy's intention is, but it sure sounds like he's trying to elevate his own name. -

Would have been fine with it if you used his picture from GQ Russia. http://i.imgur.com/XzP4f.jpg -

You probably had a Nets' banner ready with Dwight and Deron. -
Andrew Bynum Press Conference

Philly fans with an enormous roar as soon as Bynum said, "I'm leaning toward making this place home." -
I saw Beltran had a collision in the outfield a couple nights ago. Brings back bad memories of that horrific collision with Mike Cameron when he was with the Mets.

I was referring to a deal in which Lopez is sent in another direction. The Nets were offering to re-sign the likes of Sundiata Gaines to bulky one-year deals that would look past this season and blast the cap space open for the following summer. But even if you guys were to take on Lopez's four-year deal, is that really worse than taking on Harrington and Afflalo? Lopez is young talent, which, along with cap space and picks, is what you seek when trading a superstar. Magic fans overlook Lopez's offensive ability because of his rebounding (which is an overblown issue) and defense (a legitimate concern).
-
Hennigan wasn't the only guy, but it was still the same ownership influencing the whole process. You're right about the flawed speculation over what really happened, though. Props to Kupchak for doing what he has always does and swooping in at this time to complete the trade.
-
I remember the days when I went around asking for affiliations with OTR. Good times.

I wouldn't discredit the idea that Orlando was stringing the Nets along in order to get better deals from other teams. After seeing how much they were pushing for in terms of cap relief and loading up on picks without ever solving the roadblocks and coming to a resolution, and when comparing that to what they settled for in this deal, it's a very realistic possibility. Did the Nets make multiple questionable moves to create those roadblocks? Absolutely. But even through all of that, Hennigan could have simplified the deal if the value from the completed trade was all he was looking for.
-
That is precisely what the Nets were offering, except even better. They arranged several deals in which Orlando would have been getting more cap relief with a shorter wait than they will receive through this deal. If the Magic were serious about doing a deal with the Nets but did not want to take on a big contract for Lopez, they could've worked out his being sent to a third team. At least one team was interested in considering that. I do not support any logic with taking on Afflalo. He is a brilliant role player, but his presence on the Magic goes against everything they are looking to do, both in terms of his contract length and his age.
-
Good. Now I'd like to see Phelps start while CC's on the DL.

Lopez did not necessarily have to end up in Orlando. There were rumored scenarios where a third team took him. The Nets were offering immediate cap relief. The Magic have to wait some time in this deal to receive that advantage, and it isn't even the same amount of relief. The Houston deal was far better than this one as well. But as I said, the Magic FO was asking for this sort of ending after rejecting all the deals that had been put on the table. There isn't really any way to support the reasoning behind the stubbornness with the Nets. They were determined not to grant Dwight his wish and to get back at the Nets for reportedly meeting with Howard without Orlando's permission. The picks the Magic landed are heavily protected. As for this tanking procedure, the next two draft classes, according to what I've read, are less than impressive. And I, like most, do not see the point of landing Afflalo and Harrington. There is no point in adding veterans with bulky contracts like that until you have your foundation of youth in place. Hennigan's trying to justify this during yesterday's presser was comical. "We didn’t make this deal for tomorrow."
-
Atrocious. But it was pretty hard to avoid that fate after all the deals Orlando turned down.

The Nets don't want locker room pictures being posted yet, but if they're leaked on the internet... http://distilleryimage8.s3.amazonaws.com/990b6512d8ff11e1a38712313820476f_7.jpg (credits to Instagram user mistaversatile) I've been scanning Instagram quite a bit over the last week, so if anyone wants to take a look: http://imgur.com/a/WHPiC#0 http://imgur.com/a/OhlEZ#0 http://imgur.com/a/NZmbl http://imgur.com/a/oEOC0 http://imgur.com/a/oLp03#0 http://imgur.com/a/8cGI4#0 http://imgur.com/a/fgwCp#0 http://imgur.com/a/ZTtuA http://imgur.com/a/0WvSr#0
