  1. I don't remember the first game I went to that well, but I do remember wearing my new Jeter jersey to Shea. For that, I got a nudge from Mr. Met as I walked past him and had some older guys throwing peanuts at me. Good times. The MLB is reportedly considering adding a 7-day DL as an option for players with concussions.
  2. From everything that I've read, it would be Hughes before Pettitte. One step at a time, though, so I'm not aware of whether Girardi had confirmed anything before today's game. I just realized, we had a Jeffrey Maier-esque and a Steve Bartman-esque incident in the same game last night.
  3. Hughes would start game 6. Pettitte would be on track for game 7.
  4. http://richdunne.net/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/Freddy-Sez2.jpg Let's get this done.
  5. Hamilton is like last year's WS Utley. A Tex injury, not scoring after two on and no outs, the Molina HR, and the Hamilton HR have drained quite some life out of this crowd. We need some kind of spark for a Game 1-esque rally.
  6. Tex's injury didn't look pretty. At first glance, you wonder if he's done for the postseason. Molina homers... A.J.'s out looks much worse on paper than it really was. There's going to be a lot of criticism if Girardi gives him another start, but I wouldn't be completely opposed to it. But now we have a 5-3 deficit to overcome.
  7. This is a preseason game, and tensions are already high. I think it's safe to say that the rivalry is back!
  8. R.I.P. Freddy 'Sez' Schuman. He was an iconic figure in the Yankees organization, and in the eyes of many, he was the most dedicated supporter in the fanbase.
  9. The last time Pettitte was given the role of being a postseason stopper, it was Game 6 of the 2009 World Series. The time before that, Game 2 of the 2007 ALDS in Cleveland. Both were solid outings.
  10. For those of you who missed this episode, which I, by the way, found to be amazing, it is scheduled to be shown this Wednesday at 9:30 PM on ESPN.
  11. I was supposed to post this a couple months ago, and since I'd rather feel like I'm doing something productive by posting this rather than doing my work this late at night, I'll share the idea now. With the help of Andre, Brandon, and Lkr, the OTR YouTube account has established an enormous library of highlights from basketball games dating back to the 2008 NBA Playoffs. I hope that members find this library to be a handy resource in the future, whether it's using the library as a reference for significant moments as members post on this message board or simply browsing through Brook Lopez highlights to see how awesome he is. However, for multiple reasons, I am suggesting a new direction our YouTube account can take, one that can allow many more in the community to become involved in the videos that go up on the channel. The idea, which is only in it's early stages, deals with giving our members the opportunity to share their opinions and thoughts via video as the season progresses. What I have in mind is inviting dedicated members to start a series of their own videos, which would be shared at intervals convenient for them through the season, sending me those videos to add to a playlist under their username in our video library. This can potentially be a major recruiting tool, as we aim to bring in intelligent fans and add to our active community through the 2010-2011 season. So, at this point, I am simply looking for your thoughts on the idea and whether members are interested.
  12. My post on a Yankee message board a couple minutes ago: Fat Elvis!
  13. A lot of hard hit balls off Lewis in the second inning... good signs for our offense.
  14. I had to go to sleep after the Cano HR because of PSATs the next day, but I went to sleep with the mindset of, "we can still win this game." I woke up around 5:30 to find out that we came back. This is October baseball.
  15. Check that, we got Liriano for four runs in the sixth inning.
  16. Posada hit one on the nose last inning following two singles. We don't look totally confused against Wilson. Fifth inning means halfway through the game, and halfway through the game has meant our offense lighting up multiple times dating back to September. C.C.'s fourth and fifth ER were baserunners who got on base with soft hits, so I'm not too worried about him at the moment.
  17. He has a history of being un-CC-esque on extra rest. Plus, we started off down 3-0 in ALDS Game 1. Edit: And Liriano was silencing our offense (until the sixth inning) similarly to how Wilson is right now. So we'll see what happens.
  18. The first ever baseball game I went to was Marlins @ Mets at Shea Stadium July of 2005. I often go through the Yankees Top Plays Archive to look back at plays I remember from past years, but I decided to dig out the plays from that game today in the Mets archive. I just discovered that A.J. Burnett started that game for Florida. I know that I paid little attention to the NL back then, so I probably did not know who he was until he reached Toronto, and that's probably why it didn't stick in my mind.
  19. Our 3-point shooting seems to have improved as a team. Lopez's post-up moves have impressed a lot of us, including Shaq. We are a lot stronger at crucial points in the game. I've also sensed a lot more fighting for loose balls and hustle. There's just a lot more effort and liveliness in comparison to the body language of players last year at points during the season.
  20. A 4-man rotation is being used for the ALCS, a different route than what Girardi set up last year. Sabathia-Pettitte-Hughes-Burnett.

  22. Haha, I heard about that. Was it a whole episode dedicated to mocking Sabermetrics?
  23. Oh. But those red axes, or whatever they are, were only given out for the playoffs right?
