  2. Chris Douglas-Roberts That was in response to me commending his hard work and winning attitude. Pretty funny what has happened since then.
  3. Al Iannazzone A brilliant job by Yormark, which I feel isn't always the case.
  4. They brought Artest over, and now we hear about Bell and Barnes.
  5. The move was an effect of Humphries exercising his option, I'm guessing. This puts us in second place in terms of cap space.
  6. The Braves aren't going deep into the count against Strasburg even though his control doesn't seem great so far. He's allowed four baserunners, but he's only at 25 pitches through two innings.
  7. Did it get merged with a similar topic?
  8. Yeah, I agree. Along with the fact that we'd be sacrificing bench production, we aren't really in need of filling a starting spot with a free agent outside of SF. A healthy Harris and, of course, Brook, should be locked in at 1 and 5. Courtney Lee showed in his rookie year that he can impress when he's on a successful team. Being that Derrick Favors is a third pick, I wouldn't expect for it to be very long before he earns a starting spot, and Avery Johnson seems to have indicated that the Nets are keeping him rather than using him for a S&T. If we spend part of our cap space on competing for a big name's contract, we can have the rest for a backup PG, trying to bring back Humphries, and establishing a strong bench.
  9. Torre's management of the team, particularly the bullpen, wasn't so pretty in his last couple of years with the team. That likely contributed to arms being burned before the postseason and our early exits. Still, I was disappointed to hear Steinbrenner's warnings to Torre in 2006 and 2007 when the Yankees were on the verge of falling in the playoffs. I wouldn't put that kind of pressure on a manager down 2-0 in the division series, especially with what the manager did for your team. I could understand Torre's frustration with the situation, but some of his comments in The Yankees Years were going a little too far with firing back at the organization.
  10. That's in the other batter's box. http://i50.tinypic.com/309r32e.jpg Notice the difference in where McCann set up and where he caught the ball.
  11. No one's arguing. Everyone here understands the point of the thread, and everyone is recognizing how well we bounced back.
  12. June 26th was the hack, and OTR was brought back up on the 28th. The dynasty has been rebuilt. Great job by Brandon along with the community that has kept this message board rolling all this time.
  13. Dave D'Alessandro Thanks for everything, Rod. Some of the moves over recent years have been questioned, but now we are looking at an offseason in which we are extremely flexible in terms of what we can do to win it all with a great crew on which to build. Even before recent years, we saw the incredible Kidd-Marbury deal as well as the Carter trade that brought significant changes to the team. Al Iannazzone said that Jerry Colangelo could be offered a three-year contract.
  14. Pretty funny, I was looking at the highlights of Mark Buehrle's perfect game last night and thinking about how he and Braden both pitched perfect games against Tampa Bay in back-to-back seasons. Then we see a no-hitter against the Rays today. This reminds me of when A.J. Burnett threw a no-no with nine base on balls. He said in the press conference afterwards that the no-hitter wasn't something to be proud of with the number of batters he walked.
  15. Originally, it looked like the Nets would be using their #3 in a sign-and-trade for sure. But now, it looks like Favors is here to be apart of the team. Damion James is on board as well. The Nets were reportedly interested in him for a while now, and he gained more of their attention when he seemed to fall from being a lottery pick.
  16. It's over. Isner wins 70-68 in a match over 11 hours long.
  17. One hour in to the continuation, 67-66 Isner.
  18. I love how everyone was on the top step of the dugout with full attention when Mo came to bat. Mariano raised his streak of retiring batters to 24 before having it snapped. Then he escaped a bases loaded nobody out jam with two popouts and a strikeout. Thriller.
  19. It's all good. His quality is pretty good, and everyone's gets better as time goes on. Welcome to OTR, STL. It's great to see you contributing to discussions and starting new ones. You chose a great time to join the community. Hope you stick around.
  20. The prize should be sole ownership of OTR. On an unrelated note, I'm in.
