Texas Rangers @ New York Yankees (4/16-4/18)
Teletopez replied to MainEv3nt's topic in Baseball Gameday Discussion
Yankees win a 6-inning game. Great outing by C.C. He retired 12 straight batters at one point. Texas had a rough defensive game. They had one error, along with a passed ball and a couple of mishandled grounders. The weather may have contributed to that. Cano now has a hit in all ten games this year. -
Wow, I was going to say that Cantu's hit/RBI streak was snapped after the eighth inning ended, but I decided to wait just in case things got crazy with Halladay leaving. And what do you know, Cantu came up to the plate with a RISP in the ninth inning and could have kept the streak alive in a major comeback.

ESPN Hopefully, Park's injury doesn't extend to something serious. Aceves can't give 40-pitch outings now, with him and Park being the two long-distance relievers. Girardi said Logan will also pitch to right-handed hitters when he's up in the majors.

It's odd how he hits the ball well in one AB, but he'll seem to totally miss a pitch or two in the next AB. It's probably mental. But hey, he still draws the walks and does his job at first base. I'm hoping it's not long before that average starts shooting up, though. -

As I expected, a HR broke up the no-hitter. -

Wow, career-high 12 K's. The only Chicago base-runner reached on a walk. -
We already clinched the 25% chance at the first pick, if that's what you mean.

The game was fun. I was able to go on the court at the end, and I made one of my two FT's.

Brandon Roy won't be returning to the game after injuring his knee.

Philly is leading the league with 41 runs scored, and the second highest total in the league in St. Louis' 30.

Well this news is a couple days old, but it's still a hot topic. Link Link Link What does being two of the best teams in baseball have anything to do with the speed of the game? Maybe West should consider the offensive battles and pitching battles that these teams have just about every game, the amount of pitches several batters take, and the number of pitching changes that are made. As an umpire, your job is to go out there, calls balls, strikes, and outs, and that's the end of the story. If you don't like the time of the game, then don't ump.

So much to love about this game. -C.C. pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings and goes 23 outs before allowing a hit in an April start. -The defense was incredible. A-Rod, Teixeira, Cano, and C.C. put together several highlight reel-worthy plays. -A-Rod got his 1,000th hit as a Yankee, -Teixeira hit the ball well all four times. He got his first hit of the season on his second time up at bat. His next two AB's were base hits as well. -Teixeira and A-Rod had back-to-back hits for the first time this year. -The Yankees were 6-13 with RISP. Everyone got on base. -Cervelli caught nine shutout innings in which just two hits were allowed.

Yep. You can't buy aces, walk-off wins, division titles, or championships either. -

That would have had a chance at being funny a couple months ago. -
A couple of other odd things are happening. Occasionally, I've been scrolling down and seeing the Nets forum come up under watched forums. The first time I clicked on it, everything in the forum was already read. Another time I was scrolling down and it showed up, so I clicked on the forum link, and a topic that I previously read (which was also marked as read before) was now showing up as unread despite not having any new posts.

New York Yankees @ Tampa Bay Rays Series

I'm not worried about Javi yet. He had amazing stuff the first three innings. It just seems like he had a mental collapse after he gave up the game-tying homerun. If Swisher had somehow got on base in that bases loaded situation in the eighth inning, I really think we would have come back. -
I haven't watched a basketball game since before Opening Day. I need to catch up on uploads. It's too tedious to post them on here, though. I can't wait for the draft lottery, though. I'm glad to hear reports that Evan Turner is declaring for this year's draft. I may get tickets for the last ever Nets game at the Izod Center. They have an offer that lets fans take a free throw on the court at the end of the game.

Obviously, if you don't watch a sport, you'd rather not have it get covered at all. There's nothing you're proving that's not obvious. Your Tiger example is a situation that was off the field, so it naturally attracts attention from a lot more people. Why? Because it has NOTHING to do with golf. You don't like golf, so if Tiger was opening eyes in the Masters, you probably wouldn't care. I might as well say that if someone doesn't like baseball, they would still love to see coverage of A-Rod's off the field life. Why? Because it has NOTHING to do with baseball.

I don't expect this thread to make much of a point. Chances are there's going to be a major difference in the vote count in favor of "no" because there's going to be people who don't care about baseball, who just vote without posting anything (because they don't watch the sport to begin with).

Wouldn't you also watch something else on TV if the Yankees were beating your Angels in an ALCS game 3-0 even though the Angels have plenty of time to make a comeback? And so what if the Yankees play the Red Sox plenty of times a year? That's what makes the rivalry so incredible. Time and time again, either the teams' pitching or their offenses start battling, and you can rarely say the game is over before it's actually over. --------- But back on topic, there was a lot to love about the game. Aceves continued doing what he did last year, and Joba showed some of his 2007-self with the high velocity and great break on his pitches. Rivera closed it out with little difficulty. Nick Johnson's excellent plate discipline gave us the lead, and Cano's red hot bat gave us an insurance run. Burnett stumbled, but he closed out his outing well.
