Ideas of Sports Related Term Paper
Teletopez replied to Legacy's topic in Off-Topic Discussion Forum
You can write on the "Roid Era." Talk about whether it was good for baseball, how Hall of Fame voters should respond to those who took PEDs, what the MLB should do with the 2003 list, and what penalties the MLB should enforce now with players using PEDs. -
I guess someone's going to try and set a new record every February. Devin Harris set one last All-Star break.

2010 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest
Teletopez replied to Real Deal's topic in NBA All-Star Weekend Archives
I hope Terrence Williams will be in next year's contest. Here's an idea. Just to give the contest a boost next year, maybe the NBA can have a theme of players repeating dunks from past dunk contests, wearing the jerseys of the players whose dunks they use. It's more than likely an upgrade from this year's competition. -
2010 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge
Teletopez replied to Real Deal's topic in NBA All-Star Weekend Archives
Early on, Brook was strong off the glass and on defense. He wasn't as impressive later. I was disappointed that he got very few touches throughout, though. He and Harris didn't get the ball much last All-Star Weekend either. -
2010 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest
Teletopez replied to Real Deal's topic in NBA All-Star Weekend Archives
I guess the judges had no choice but to give DeRozan a 50 on his second dunk. I was originally hoping for Nate to lose, but looking back, I would've just been in favor of simply an entertaining dunk contest. We didn't even get that. Next year, I really don't care who wins. I don't care who competes, even if it means Nate AGAIN, which it probably will be. I just want the contest to be more enjoyable than the other competitions, just like it used to be. -
We always have an embarrassing attendance, but this is because of the snow. The crazy part is that in the last couple of seasons, the Nets had very few fans come to the game due to snow and let fans move up to the front twice. Both of those games were also against the Bucks.

I don't even want to look at the attendance count tonight.

Hughes and Joba deserve a shot at competing for the fifth spot in the rotation, but I really like the idea of having them both in the bullpen, while having either Gaudin or Mitre as our #5 arm. Gaudin was great for us last year, and Mitre wasn't bad when his sinker was working. And having Hughes and Joba coming out of the 'pen while Rivera is still playing may benefit them in the long run.

Atlanta and Detroit seem like the only two possible destinations for him at this point. The Braves have had interest in him for some time now, and they seem more likely to sign him.

The Dooling article is a couple weeks old, but I thought I'd dig up these two articles at a point where you'd figure most guys are more frustrated than they've ever been in their playing careers. Dooling Full Article Humphries Full Article

We have Gardner, Hoffman, Winn, and Thames, and we wouldn't have gone after the last two if we thought we had a shot at coming to terms with Damon.

One way or another, we play very well through the first three quarters and are shut down through the fourth. Seven straight games have followed that script. Sometimes, our offense is shut down, and other times, our defense is absent. Our defense was basically ineffective throughout last night's game, but Cleveland just went on fire in the final 12 minutes. And Kiki should know better than to call a timeout after the opposing team's run has extended to 13-2. Great performance from Hayes, who was questionable for the game. Lopez had some impressive post-up work. Lee showed great judgment with the ball. And we can just about always count on Dooling to a great job filling in for Harris. All the losses in this losing streak have been by less than 10 points. Kiki is labeling the benching of CD-R as a "flow of the game" move. It's been a really strange, rather quick, sequence of events leading to Douglas-Roberts sitting out.

Rod and Kiki get rid of Frank. Rod could get rid of Kiki. Then Prokhorov could come in and get rid of Rod. It all starts with the senseless first step.

I think the current record for the fastest visit to baseball games in all 30 stadiums is 27 days, so you can go for a new mark. -
Yankees.com Three former Yankees have come back this offseason: Vazquez, Johnson, and Thames.

L.A. Lakers @ Portland
Teletopez replied to alcstarheel's topic in Portland Trail Blazers Team Forum
That breaks Bryant's streak of playing in 234 straight games. -
That makes five straight games in which the Nets played very well through the first three and had a rough 4th quarter/final minutes. This last one is somewhat understandable, with guys like House and Allen being automatic in the clutch. Not many teams have two catch-and-shoot guys. Not many teams have a defense like this. We shot over 50% for a good part of the game. Our outside shooting was there, but we also put points on the board by recognizing open lanes and driving to the basket.

Tough, tough loss. We played great for most of that game, but that 4-minute drought screwed us up. We were terrible with defensive rebounds, there were way too many shots that turned into easy offensive boards for Washington. If we had done a better job boxing out and fighting for rebounds, this would have more than likely been a win.
