  1. Bump. I know the season hasn't started yet but there's a lot of videos coming out on the NBA website and elsewhere. Post your requests whenever something catches your eye.
  2. You can take the "not" out of the thread title. Hoops World
  3. Okay? My point is that it seems every time there's a bid broken, at least one of those thing occur.
  4. I've talked about this a couple times before, and at least one of these trends usually occurs when a no-hitter or perfect game is broken. It's happened time and time again. 1) It's broken to lead off an inning. 2) It's broken with a home run. 3) The pitcher is shaky after the no hitter or perfect game is broken. Today, AJ Burnett's perfect game was broken by a walk, and two batters later, he had given up 3 runs (trend 3). The no hitter was broken by a 3-run HR from Ian Kinsler (trend 1). I've noticed these trends because of the number of potential no hitters and perfect games the Yanks have had going. Wang had two perfect games broken up by home runs, one against Seattle and one in Boston. Burnett had a bumpy outing after giving up his first hit, hit by the innings first batter, against Tampa Bay in April. Then at Citi Field, his no-hitter was broken by Cora to start the inning. Sabathia had a no-hitter going at Citi, and a Sheffield homer broke it to start the inning. If you look at Buerhle's no hitter, it would have been broken by a HR had the OF not made the leaping catch. There have been several other instances, but I can't remember exactly what happened. But if there's ever a no-no bid going, you can come back to this thread.
  5. "Ball Don't Lie" thinks so. Link It's pretty clear what Yi is all about? Is this writer even aware of what Yi's been up to this offseason, and is he aware of the numbers he put up before the injury? Also, here's one of Terrence Williams' latest Twitter posts.
  6. Maybe the Yanks should have let Texas sweep them so Boston couldn't gain on them in the WC.
  7. I disagree. No doubt VC didn't play up to his money, but if we're talking about the decade, then I don't see his name being brought up. Six playoff years, three into the second round. He played through leg problems, and was never out for an extended period of time. Yes, he rarely drived in the last three years, but he contributed plenty from the outside. He led us to quite a comeback in 04-05 when we caught the eighth seed. He averaged 27.5 with us that year. He powered us to the third seed the next year. Despite the lack of success in 07-08, he was one of three players to average 20, 5, and 5. The other two were Bryant and McGrady. We did want a lot more from him, but what he did for us in his first three years was significant, and I don't know if his name fits in in a discussion of the biggest loser of the decade. http://i26.tinypic.com/o58bi0.jpg
  8. Share your opinions. Should both leagues have pitchers bat or should both use DHs and not have pitchers come up to the plate? Or should both leagues keep their own rules? Vote and discuss.
  9. Mayor Bloomberg said Ratner should use the Gehry design. That's unlikely now, though, considering Ratner and Gehry didn't get along very well. Ratner pretty much hated the design also. Bloomberg also criticized the critics for stalling the project into these economic times.
  10. One more series in the regular season between these two teams in September, which will a 3 game set in the Bronx. The season series stands at 9-6 in favor of the Red Sox. The Yanks have won 6 of the last 7.
  11. The Devils responded... http://dddb.net/homeart/njdevilsbillboard.jpg
  12. I don't understand why stadiums have that gap, though. It's frustrating for the outfielder when he expect the ball to ricochet and it goes into the gap instead.
  13. A new record set for runs scored by the Yankees and BoSox in a three game set, pretty crazy. Also, I think this was Beckett's first loss at Fenway this year. He also gave up a career high five HR's in the game, though he went eight frames. Not the best baseball we've played, but we took 2 out of 3, so we played well enough, overall at least. Great series for Matsui with two 2 HR games. Jeter continued the hot hitting after having his hit streak snapped yesterday. Great bounce back game, and great pitching by the ace.
  14. That was some shot by Seth Smith, wow. Frustrating loss for the Giants, considering Helton could have been out at home had Garko not cut off the throw, and Lincecum, who was already over his average pitches per game, could have been taken out of the game with a warmed up pitcher prior to giving up the two run HR.
  15. The Qur'an was actually revealed piece by piece. The first revelations were in Ramadan, though they kept on coming afterwards. I don't think it's observed because of the revelation or based on any occurrence, Ramadan is just considered a holy month, though I may be wrong. And Ramadan Mubarak.
  16. Yeah it can and should be placed horizontally. I read it cools better.
  17. I love the homepage. The YouTube feed is great, you can even shuffle through all the videos without having to open up a new page. Two suggestions. Is there anyway to collapse the online list so it's not empty on the right? Also, since the group icons are here, maybe the "Group: ..." under the icon should be taken out. Come NBA season, maybe we can have a daily post count tracker at the bottom of the index.
  18. Well unfortunately, Burnett's ERA is over 4, Jeter's hitting streak is over, the best we can do is tie the season series, and we, once again, barely score for AJ. But in the end, it's only one loss and we're still 6.5 up.
  19. Not after losing the first eight games of the season series.
  20. Yesterday was free batting average night. Today is boost your ERA day.
  21. That was quite a sloppy game, but hey, when you put up 20 runs, you may as well put in a guy who hasn't pitched in weeks, a guy coming off injury, and a shaky starter. And Mitre has good stuff. He showed that backdoor curveball last year, but the question is whether he can be consistent, which he hasn't exactly been. For now, we have him, Bruney, and Robertson to use when starters don't go very far, and then we have Aceves, Coke, Hughes, and Rivera for the later parts of the game, which looks like a pretty strong bullpen. Nice offensive performance yesterday .
  22. When you turn it off, just switch it off from the front. I always leave the back switch on and keep it on standby. I don't think it's good for the system if you always turn off the back switch.
  23. What mistakes did you notice last year that Lawrence Frank needs to correct this upcoming season? Give Brook Lopez the ball more frequently It's no coincidence that the team would suddenly quicken the pace with scoring when the ball was put in Lopez's hands. The Nets haven't had someone who can post up like Brook in years. Not only that, he showed that he has quite a jump shot as well. He will draw contact and he hits his free throws. We hardly saw him attempt unacceptable shots, either. Hopefully, Lopez won't have to return to the bench so quickly this season due to questionable foul calls, so we can expect to see him on the floor more often. That should mean a lot more touches, seeing what numbers the center put up last year. More High Percentage Shots We saw way, way too many low percentage shot attempts last year. Simmons loved shooting from the corner, Carter rarely got to the basket, and you'd want to stop watching the game if you saw Yi take another shot. This ties in with giving Lopez the ball more. He's not afraid of being in the paint. Neither is Harris. Terrence Williams is strong near the basket as well. If we can take advantage, why not? Share your thoughts.
  24. Well our main problems against them come on the road. Hopefully we can finish with the best record in the AL so we get home field throughout.
