He's saying that winning the championship & Finals MVP is more important than winning regular season MVP...not that whoever wins the finals mvp, is automatically better than the actual MVP. Ask Lebron right now if he would trade in his regular season MVP award to win that ring..I'm pre sure would the answer would b lol.
