Love this move and I really doubt Chicago will match. Looks like we finally got our center.

Brooklyn and Atlanta talking Joe Johnson deal
Dash replied to magicbalala245's topic in General NBA Discussion
Apparently the Hawks want MarShon Brooks and that put a snag on the deal. -
5 of them can play multiple positions. Morey said so in his press conference that the roster will "sort itself out" so more moves are likely on the way, meaning Scola is probably gone.

Ray Allen beef with Rondo may take him elsewhere
Dash replied to Flash's topic in Boston Celtics Team Forum
A prick for wanting the superior player to start? Ray's role in Miami is likely going to be reduced so I'm not seeing why he's so intent on leaving Boston. -
Had a feeling the Rockets were going to try and pick up a 2nd for him. Good stash pick that late I suppose.
-
Rockets have acquired another 2nd.

Ecstatic with the Jeremy Lamb pick, I can't believe he slipped that far and went after Austin Rivers and Terrence Ross. This was the "upside" pick I was hoping for, I don't see why the Raptors/Rockets couldn't come to an agreement but I'm happy with the Lamb pick although I REALLY wanted Drummond. Kevin Martin has to be out the door soon. Not so high on the Royce White pick at 16th, Houston is said to be very high on him but we could have used Tyler Zeller moreso than another forward. I'll trust Daryl Morey and hope the upside with White was worth it. Really wanted Perry Jones with the 18th pick, topped my board for weeks but seeing him fall all the way to the late first round makes me feel a bit better about it. Terrence Jones is another guy with high upside, probably not on Andre Drummond or Perry Jones level but its a low risk-high reward pick this late. Overall decent draft although I'm disappointed we didn't make a trade for either a trade up or veteran (a 2 for 1 trade would have been nice, too many players now). I'm glad Morey and the staff went for the upside picks rather than playing it safe like they have the past few years.

Charlotte just ruined everyone's mock draft.
-
I agree. Houston will walk away winners of draft regardless of what they do, but the question is how big do they win?

Rockets met last second with the top 2 players I want if we're unable to move up. Awesome news. Also:

Dash's Rockets draft board Trade up draft board 1) Andre Drummond 2) [expletive] everyone else Staying pat at #12, #16, #18 draft board 1. Perry Jones 2. Jeremy Lamb (too much talent to pass at 12th) 3. Tyler Zeller 4. Kendall Marshall 5. Terrence Ross/Austin Rivers 6. Meyers Leonard
-
Solid read. I'd take Jeremy Lamb in a heartbeat if he fell that far but there is a rumor going around that Houston is said to be high on Terrence Ross. I'm a huge fan of taking Kendall Marshall with the 16th assuming we don't trade it and Perry Jones at the 18th would be a huge steal, I would assume that Houston would take Perry Jones ahead of Marshall in order to secure him as we've been heavily linked to him the past few days. A bit surprised though to see you having Harrison Barnes slip all the way to the 9th pick, figured Toronto would take him if he was available.
-
Love that list of prospects outside of Austin Rivers, we'd have to have a top 10 pick in order to take him and I'm not on board with that. Always been high on Perry Jones and Andre Drummond, those are my top 2 right now. Also really like Kendall Marshall with one of our later picks.

Rockets trade talks for pick #5 heating up
Dash replied to Dash's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
Rockets-Kings appear to be getting close to a deal http://espn.go.com/nba/draft2012/story/_/id/8108693/2012-nba-draft-houston-rockets-sacramento-kings-talking-no-5-pick-sources-say My problem with this is that if we wait until the draft starts or the #2 pick to see if Thomas Robinson falls then our hands are tied when we don't even know if the Kings will accept the deal. -

Interesting that they opt to go with putting veterans in the MITB match instead of young talent. Pretty sure Cena is going to win it and then we'll get a Cena/Punk rematch at Summerslam. Would love to see that happen but Punk should come out on top for his title reign to mean something IMO. -
Charlotte trades Corey Maggette to Detroit for Ben Gordon

BFT the protection is actually even worse than the one you posted. 2013: lottery protected 2014: top 8 protected 2015: top 1 protected 2016: unprotected Either way Dumars is only giving himself one year to put together a competitive team. -
If Drummond falls that far then it opens a list of more possibilities for Houston, trading for the 9th pick isn't nearly as difficult as trading for the 5th pick. New Orleans offered Houston the 10th pick for the 14th and 16th picks but the Rockets declined and that was before we added the 18th pick. There is talk that Lillard is Houston's actual target with the 5th pick though, not sure if that is a smokescreen or what.

Sounds good, I actually just sent mine but was holding out in case the Rockets moved up like I think they will.

Dwight, Rudy, or Josh in Houston plans
Dash replied to magicbalala245's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
Gay would have been such an awful fit for that Rockets team. Tracy would have stunted his growth because Gay needs the ball in hands and wouldn't have had the same freedom he did in Memphis as Houston was looking to win now rather than develop a rookie. Shane, on the other hand, meshed in perfectly with Tracy and Yao because he could play off-ball, was a sniper from deep (42% three point shooter the one year both stars were healthy and he had a few post moves in his arsenal although much of his offensive game has deteriorated due to aging and surgery) and at one point was the best defensive wing in the entire league. The last thing the Rockets needed was another ball dominant forward. It was Daryl Morey's first trade (reportedly had a lot of influence while he was assistant general manager as he was expected to take over in a year) and an excellent one at that, it might have worked out in Houston's favor too if the team just could have stayed healthy. Now Rudy Gay wouldn't do much more than have Houston take another step into mediocrity and crippled cap flexibility. -
Going to agree with CMS. At this point in his career Ray Allen is not much more than a spot up shooter and although Miami can be deadly from outside with Wade/Lebron garnering all the attention and Ray Allen slithering in the perimeter (the simple drive-pass-and pop we see often from Lebron), I think adding more size and length up front is the more pressing need. I can see why Miami is after Ray though, Lebron and Wade struggled from the perimeter in the Thunder series and Ray Allen would be another proven winner inside that Heat locker room so it would be a solid signing but not the most necessary.
