Lol, you're still talking nonsense.
-
You're making no sense now. 1) You state why I'm posting about socialism in a thread about a poster that portrays Obama as a laughing stock. 2) I return with, "I posted in a thread portraying Obama as a socialist and making it seem like that's a bad thing." 3) You return with, "Why are we arguing?" Lmao.
-
You know damn well why we're arguing. What a lame attempt to get yourself out of a sticky situation.
-
I posted in a thread portraying Obama as a socialist and making it seem like that's a bad thing.
-
I baited? I'm saying I would support a more socialist America, but not near the extent of a Denmark, or Finland. The poster addresses socialism and I talked about it in my posts. As for the second part, that argument just expanded from the fact that I stated, "these people are acting like socialism is a bad thing." That happens sometimes when discussing things if you aren't aware.
-
I'm immature, yet you're the one that's calling me a douche bag and telling me to shut the [expletive] up. Uh-huh. Maybe you should have paid more attention to my first post in this thread: "These people are acting like socialism is a bad thing." That's what I've been trying to get across this whole time; socialism is not a bad thing and it shouldn't be seen as such. If anything, it's a very good system of government if done right. I still think the United States government could use more socialist aspects, but what I'm saying is I doubt it would work nearly as effectively as in places such as Denmark, Finland, or Sweden.
-
And you're still not getting the point. Maybe you should have read the following sentence.
-
What does that have to do with anything? Denmark is built for the people there, not for anybody else. Which is why I believe socialism wouldn't work nearly as well in a country like America. It's funny how you're trying to refute a study with no real arguments against it. That also. And like I previously stated, some countries in Europe such as Germany won't let you buy a house unless you're a citizen of a country in Europe. The United States is a much easier place to migrate to than any country in Europe.
-
Look at countries that have done socialism right (or to some extent at least): Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. All three economies are ranked in the top twenty in the world according to multiple reports. And along with the fact that they have the some of the happiest people in the world, they sure as hell must be doing something right. I'm not talking about whether the United States would be more successful if it was socialist. Because I'm not sure if it would work out so well with a country that's built as a melting pot. And that's definitely not what I'm getting at.
-
Like I said, I'm for a mixed balance of both socialism and capitalism. What you're talking about falls under communism, not necessarily socialism. Communism is an extreme form of socialism. You don't go around interchanging fascism and capitalism, do you? But people don't hesitate to do so to communism and socialism. Nobody here is talking about communism.

You're right. We should leave health care in the hands of those who care more about their profit at the end of the day rather than the well-being of their customers. First of all, that's not in the least bit true. You don't get paid if you don't do jack [expletive]. Using broad generalizations that aren't even true don't help your case at all. And too much competition is not necessarily a good thing either. People will do anything to find the easiest and fastest way to get rich and they'll do so at the expense of others. That's where the top two results of competition come into play: greed and corruption. I'm not saying there should be no competition. Countries such as Sweden have private owned industries, yet they're socialist. A nice balance between socialism and capitalism really is the ideal government if it's done right.

Well if Deng comes back healthy and ready to go, I don't think the Bulls will be in trouble.
-
Well, we needed another point guard so I guess it's not too bad of a signing.
-
They don't need Iverson.
-
I'm done arguing here. I don't mind having a good conversation, but it wouldn't hurt to know something about socialism before you start insulting it or throwing false information out there.
-
In a sense I do admire them, but that doesn't mean I want to move there. I'm just stating a point.
-
And I'm not how is comment is any worse than stating that I should leave the U.S. for preferring socialism.
-
Quote me where I said that I am unhappy here in America. By stating that Denmark and Finland are the happiest countries in the world, does not mean I want to move there. I'm simply proving a point. If you're not a citizen of any European countries, it's usually not a great idea to move to Europe to live. In some countries, such as Germany, they won't even sell a house to those that aren't citizens of a European country. I'm not sure how saying socialism is good system of government suddenly means I hate America and that I should move.
-
Nobody said I'm not happy here, stop putting words in my mouth. I'm just simply stating that socialism is not a bad thing by any means. If anything, it's a good system of government. If it wasn't, I doubt we would be seeing the two happiest countries in the world as socialist.
-
And you're the only one it seems.
-
It was a study done by the OECD. It's not like they're the ones claiming that they are the happiest.
-
If only it worked that way.

Because maybe people are dumbasses, as evident all over the world. Propaganda... ever heard of it? Even with a scholarship, some kids are forced to drop out of great universities because they can't afford to travel when it comes to the time where they are forced to leave campus (winter break for example). Just because you get a full scholarship, doesn't mean that the fee of buying food is eliminated, among other things. I've seen it happen, don't tell me it doesn't. Higher taxes... not entirely true. Depending on the country, everybody is taxed the same percentage, and that money is used to provide free universities, hospitals, and other things. No wonder Denmark/Finland are the happiest countries in the world.
-
Holy [expletive], I hope you're not serious. There's more to socialism than controlling everything, which is in fact not even true. Sweden has a lot of private industries, yet they're socialist. Stalin was not socialist, he was communist. North Korea is a dictatorship, not socialist. Just because the government has a huge role does not make them socialist in any sense.
-
What the [expletive] does this have anything to do with socialism? In socialism you are not being punished for working hard, quite the contrary in fact. The difference is that there's a thinner gap between the rich and the poor, which does wonders for the economy. It's also bull[expletive] watching brilliant kids not being able to attend good universities even with a full scholarship, when rich kids can get in to the best, because of their parents wealth. It's an ongoing cycle.
