Matt Forte and Dez Bryant pique my interest. Washington and Bowe gets that package done? You get the better receiver and I get the better runner, which we both need. Let me know.
-
I don't want to give up Bush for that kind of a package though. I'd rather package Bush and Jackson for a quality running back then give away two of the better players in a 4-team deal. Bush > Jacoby Jones > Julian Edelman > Devin Hester. I thought the Washington, Keller and Bowe for Cooley and Nicks deal was fair.
-
He was in a tough position, the Jets already have Holmes, Edwards, Cotchery, Clowney and Brad Smith at receiver plus Dustin Keller has become a favorite of Mark Sanchez over the past off-season leading up to now. With their make-up on offense, the Jets can't really afford to hold a sixth receiver.

Fantasy Football Auction Draft League
The Great iBoldin replied to EastCoastNiner's topic in NFL Football
It's only fair, I got jipped with the 14th pick in the Yahoo league. I'll be nominating an interesting player number one. A running back, we'll have to see. Off the board pick. -
lol... What a joke. This is garbage. All those subliminal messages and Illuminati and NWO [expletive] are such garbage.
-
Oh for sure, the glutes make a huge difference. Guys like Ray Rice, Michael Turner, MJD have dem juicy thighs and it really does work.
-
Yeah, Spagnuolu was honestly a genius with his defense and his pressures, schemes, coverages, all of it. He had great talent, but he also has an extroadanairy mind. He's doing what he can with a terrible St. Louis roster, but he has some defensive talent to build around (Laurinaitis, Chris Long if he gets his head out of his [expletive], a couple solid tackles, Ron Bartell, OJ Atogwe, etc.) so that obviously benefited Webster. He needs to be in a man heavy scheme, he didn't look great in Sheridan's poo zone defense.
-
Good choice, especially if Bob Sanders can come in, not get injured and play reasonably well. I really like the athletic players they got there in Powers and Lacey, especially Lacey. A solid group.
-
That'd be my biggest concern, but I think he might not be too bad. You can get by with average nose guard play if you get great play from your five-techniques, which is why it's critical for their rotations to keep fresh, and a player like Odrick to play well from day one. I think it may effect Dansby the most, he had great play in front of him by both Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett and could flow to the ball fairly uninterrupted a lot, that won't happen as often in Miami.
-
DeAngelo Williams, Dez Bryant and Rashad Jennings for Reggie Bush, Desean Jackson and Chester Taylor/Fred Taylor?
-
Miami with Merling was actually a great defensive line, all of them fit Parcells' two-gap system (although I think he tends to get away from that sometimes, Merling was a possible one-gap guy at Clemson, extremely athletic) but I think Odrick brings them down a peg until he really learns the NFL game. Pittsburgh's gotten a lot older but they're still special. As is Baltimore (Love Ngata, have ever since he came out of UO) and Cincinnati. Hell, I even like Cleveland when Rodgers has his Goddamn head on straight. Indianapolis has a special pair of ends but NOTHING inside. I hate that. Hopefully Moala shows something because I hate how they trot out garbage in the middle and put unnecessary pressure on two special players. Oakland is surprisingly decent. Jay Ratliff makes Dallas really swell at that position, and Wade does a good job with his scheme there. I'd love New York if Tuck could stay healthy, they start Linval Joseph and JPP flashes some things I know he will this season and beyond (possible monster there) and Osi comes back to play at least a fraction at what he did when he tore that ACL. Philadelphia's bookends are outstanding, Graham is a perennial double digit sack guy who is also a jack of all trades player. Trent Cole is one of the best three-down ends in the league, bar none. Need a little more inside though, as well. Minnesota is probably my number one. Green Bay has some nice individual 34 talent. Need some depth behind those guys though. Surprisingly LOVE Detroit, it totally fits what Schwartz tries to do with getting a ton of pressure with just four guys, a key cog in his machine there. Suh, Corey Williams, Lee Hill, Vanden Bosche, Cliff Avril, that's a stacked line. Avril has potential and he'll get a lot of one on one time which he's never gotten before. I think Arizona has a top five unit here, San Francisco isn't bad. Tampa Bay is doing things right building from the Inside out. Interesting philosophy because I think Brian Price has been superb in camp and Gerald McCoy is Gerald McCoy.

I really like a lot of cores this year because the depth coming from the NCAA is amazing. The underclassmen numbers at the skill positions have gone up and it's allowing for better teams. The Spread has helped tremendously with that regard too. New England, the Jets, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Houston, San Diego (Vincent Jackson included I suppose, I don't think they're much without him though, certainly not top ten), Dallas, Philly, Minnesota, Green Bay, and New Orleans are my top twelve. In the mix are Arizona, San Fran (potentially), dare I say Detroit? Could also see the Giants. I always see a lot of people applauding the New Orleans receiving core, and it's happening in this threat. That's a misconception in my opinion. Drew Brees and the scheme make those receivers what they are, besides perhaps Colston, and a very slim chance with Shockey. It's not even a top five core, Drew Brees is the one doing all the ravaging. He makes a lot of those receivers who they are. Henderson, Lance Moore, Meachem, etc. I do think Jimmy Graham can be a player, though. Here's a good blog post on New Orleans and why they tick: http://smartfootball.com/gameplanning/sean-payton-breaks-down-his-super-bowl-script. Awesome break down of their Super Bowl and what they do schematically. ECN said it, I love Green Bay this year. So much. Rodgers is going to ravage teams, it's going to be ruthless. The offensive line has been improved, it'll give him time and his versatility is special. Mike McCarthy has also done a good job mixing schemes, hitting short, intermediate and deep routes with timing, precision, all that jazz. The patented slants play is almost unstoppable against a lot of situations, especially Man, and they have YAC monsters in Jennings, Driver, Jordy Nelson and James Jones. Jermichael Finley can be, but he's more of a seams guy and he'll be huge down in the red zone. Trust me, it'll be good fun watching this team, that offense will be special. I touch on Green Bay more in my "Pick Six" column I'm releasing along with my blog tomorrow.

The Jets, Cincinnati, Tennessee (really scrappy secondary, especially Cortland Finnegan), San Diego to a degree, Oakland, Dallas, New York Giants (when playing M2M defense, I don't like the fit of Fewell there, he runs too much zone stuff and that'll hurt Webster and Terrell Thomas), Green Bay (with Al Harris of course), New Orleans, Arizona are my top ten. Teams like San Francisco, Carolina, Kansas City (potentially), New England, Miami and Houston are all potentially in that mix as well. San Fran has consistency problems and have a lot of money tied into Clements still (beauty in run support though) and that's a problem. Houston is very young and raw but have the potential to be an extremely athletic group. Same with Miami, although the physicality is already there, they just need to brush up on a few things this year. Kansas City has a hidden gem in Brandon Flowers, who's been on my Love Interest list for awhile. We'll also see about Carolina. Overall, I tend to favor a physical group (Miami) who uses a lot of press and stays away from the shell coverage and zones. It needs athletic corners, but I enjoy M2M so much more, and that's why I really like a player like Corey Webster. He plays M2M amongst the best in the league and doesn't allow a lot of guys to get free. He struggled last year without Spags because they ran too much vanilla [expletive] in the defensive backfield. You need to cater to your better players' strengths and that doesn't happen with Fewell this year, one of the reasons I don't like the G-Men as much as other people. Brandon Flowers, as previously mentioned, I love because he's scheme versatile and plays in multiple situations. Presses well and knows his zones. He picks up on routes and is a big body who doesn't allow a receiver to use his hands to shake press.

Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Houston, Dallas, Minnesota (small extent, fairly underrated group when Henderson is healthy), Chicago, Atlanta (if Spoon plays well, I love Lofton), Tampa Bay (underrated, good stable of fast 'backers who think well), San Francisco and Seattle are probably the top ten, and I think teams like Jacksonville, Cincinnati, the Jets, Philadelphia, etc. are acceptable as well. As I touched on above, I think the Falcons could coax a nice trio out of what they have. Spoon is going to be a monster either at the SAM or WILL, it doesn't matter, within two years he's a 100-tackle type of guy. Lofton is a leader and really lays a boom on running backs. Sound tackler with great instincts. Really transformed since he left the Sooners. It's also somewhat tough to distinguish linebacker corps' because of the different alignments. I don't really like to lump 34 and 43 together because they all have different responsibilities. Usually in the 34 the two outside guys would normally be your ends, your speed rushers. The Tampa 2 has somewhat of an impact too, because in Tampa and Minnesota, and a little bit of Jacksonville and Atlanta, you preach speed and critical thinking to overcome the obvious size issues. A lot of variables to take into account when making a simple list.

I upheld your guys' trade. There's been a fair amount of trades so far for not really getting a great read on a lot of players, so I'm happy. Cobb, I want to do what it takes for Jermichael Finley.

Would you do Tony Scheffler for Freddy Davis?

First 20-25 minutes = brilliant. Rest of show = garbage once again.

bearfan, his posts are straight up weird. sumtin just makes ridiculous outlandish sport statements and posts about awful beers with the occasionally weird post. -
How did you only get Jermichael Finley for 5 dollars? Jesus Christ.

ESPN's Scout Report Rankings 2010
The Great iBoldin replied to EastCoastNiner's topic in NFL Football
Can you pm the article to me ECN? I assume you have insider so that'd be extremely helpful. Thanks. -
Guys, I'm really glad to see the great activity here. In a 17 team league, that's essential. Everyone is chipping in with trade offers, some people are playing the waiver wire and a lot of people are happy with their teams. The autodraft weren't too kind to some people but some have already tried to dig out of it.. Today I'll come up with some Power Rankings and I'll release the finalized schedule after I look over it one more time for anything I might've missed. Keep it up guys, get the proposed trades going!

WK1: Cincinnati @ New England
The Great iBoldin replied to Real Deal's topic in NFL Gameday Archives
People still severely underrate that Cincinnati defense. They have the best duo of corners in the NFL and have a stifling defense that can shut down the best of offenses, including New England. I suspect a tight game where Cincinnati has the run game going and New England doesn't. I'd say something 16-14 is a solid bet.. I really like the Patriots defense. -
PiLR and I made a trade. He sent me Chester Taylor and I sent him Bradford and Leonard Weaver. Unfortunately the autopick gave him Ben Roethlisberger and no back-up, lol.
