Guest Nissan
The Lakers should do a sign and trade with the Rockets. Artest and Cook for Ariza and Morrison. We save a few million in this deal. We can trade Cook and cash to a team looking to make some free cash. We also get to keep our MLE and the Rockets can use their MLE to fill some holes on their team. Edited July 7, 2009 by Nissan

Dash
Eh, I wouldn't mind it but I rather not spend more money on what is left in this FA. Artest is already on the Lakers FOO. Signings aren't until tomorrow.

Force
What are you guys even saying? This would help out both teams, as they would still be acquiring their ideal player (Artest and Ariza obv.) and would still be capable of spending the MLE on somebody else. It prolly wont happen but this is a good idea..

kingfish
Ok I realize what you are saying and the answer is NO. Simply because, BRIAN COOK A LAKER AGAIN? B would backflip off the empire state building if it were to happen.
Owner Real Deal Posted July 8, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted July 8, 2009 The Lakers won't be offering any more money to Lamar than what they plan on dishing out anyways, and I doubt we will use that MLE if we were to bring in Artest using Trevor's Bird Rights (pretty much what we're doing). We might as well use the MLE on Artest and not risk having to pay him $8 million a season or so, because Houston and Ron can work it out to where he gets Ariza's paycheck, and that only hurts us a bit more down the road. Assuming we get Odom back, we won't spend anything else but maybe the vet's minimum and small minimum contracts, so we might as well hand it to Artest while the offer is there. And I would never want to see Cook back in Los Angeles. Ever. But that's not relevant to the idea of this deal, either.
