AboveLegit
Either way, Hov is the best rapper alive and possibly all time.Lmao, you just lost all the credibility in the world by saying that... I'm done with this thread, to say Drake is one of the best out is either extremely pitiful for music, or just flat out wrong. Choose one. Jammin
What are you talking about? He had two highly acclaimed mixtapes (one of which was pretty damn good) and then So Far Gone which sparked a bidding war. Learn up stan.Dude, critics also like albums/movies that you and I haven't heard of in our lifetime. It's their job to listen to stuff that no one else will. Just because it's 'highly acclaimed' doesn't mean its good to every day music listeners. Of course So Far Gone had a bidding war, who wouldn't want to sign the rapper who the biggest rapper in the world co-signs? Once Weezy came into the picture, Drake exploded into mainstream. Unless you're from Toronto, you really can't comment about how overrated Drake is. They talk about him like he's the 2nd coming, which EVERYONE here (unless they're childhood friends/Young Money riders) disagrees with. If he was signed to a record label without a big name rapper backing him, he would be 1 and done. BTW you don't have to use rap terms to make people think you know more about music than them.
kadillak
Either way, Hov is the best rapper alive and possibly all time.Fail. Saying Cudi is a good rapper is just [expletive]ing stupid, plain and simple.Fail. You really need to go look at some of the lyrics in his songs. He may have a very simple writing style, but he's got quite a few songs that have very good meaning behind them that can be applied to the common person. He's unconventional, but you simply can't dismiss him as a horrible rapper, "plain and simple".
Check my Stats
Lol at Drake being overrated, dude isn't on the level of Em/Nas/Hov etc, but he is a solid-[expletive] Rapper considering he hasn't even dropped an album yet. His [expletive] just doesn't appeal to you, he raps for the women, he isn't a hardcore rapper or some drug kingpin. He isn't even a typical rapper, he is a singer as well. I personally hate Drake but to say he sucks or is not good is just plain ignorant IMO. J Cole is better than both of these nubs though. Whether you like it or not, Drake is the future of the rap game not Cudi. I think Cudi is sick on the hook though, idk so much about his rapping though. Hov is definitely in contention of best ever, but best right now is debatable.Off the top of my head, Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Rakim are miles ahead of Hov. He's not in contention, he's no where near the level of those four I mentioned.

BTW you don't have to use rap terms to make people think you know more about music than them. What are you talking about? That doesn't take anything away from the fact that even without Lil Wayne, Drake was an internet sensation from Day 1. "Best I Ever Had" didn't have a Lil Wayne feature, "Successful" didn't have a Lil Wayne feature, and I believe Jay-Z actually gave Drake a co-sign over a year ago when they preformed the for mentioned songs together. Many other major record labels were bidding on Drake around this time last year, one of which included Young Money. He could have easily made his own lane without ever joining Young Money, of course we know now that it was a good idea to join Wayne now... Rap terms? What are rap terms? Lol at Drake being overrated, dude isn't on the level of Em/Nas/Hov etc, but he is a solid-[expletive] Rapper considering he hasn't even dropped an album yet. I don't think anyone said Drake isn't untalented, just the fact he isn't a very good rapper. Who says you have to be a drug king-pin to be a great rapper? That's just stupid. Only time can tell of which who will still be relevant in the future, although I think the buzz of these guys will be done within the next two years. Fail. You really need to go look at some of the lyrics in his songs. He may have a very simple writing style, but he's got quite a few songs that have very good meaning behind them that can be applied to the common person. He's unconventional, but you simply can't dismiss him as a horrible rapper, "plain and simple".I'm a huge Cudi fan. I've analyzed his songs for hours over the past three years, looked into his lyrics and his background. I support him so much that I bought three copies of his album FFS but part of being a fan is understanding the artists short comings as well as talents. He's very good at expressing his emotions, of which people are realizing they can relate to heavily. Unfortunately that doesn't mean he has great lyrical skills or a plentiful amount of flows. Many rappers today are cursed by only having one flow; Drake being one of them. His lyrics aren't particularly deep either, just because he brushes many peoples feelings again doesn't mean it's executed very well. Check my Stats
What gives you the impression Drake's buzz will be gone by 2 years from now? Lol the kid is dropping hits left and right.
HipHopHead
What gives you the impression Drake's buzz will be gone by 2 years from now? Lol the kid is dropping hits left and right. What hits has he had? Best I Ever had was a MAJOR hit, Successful was pretty big but other than that he hasn't really had any song not Young Money assisted that's gone number one. Remember when Mike Jones or Young Dro were the next big things? They each had at least two "hits" and they aren't even in the game anymore (at least to my knowledge). Not saying I know the future but if I were to bet on it, I wouldn't expect Drake or Cudi to be any bigger than they are now.
