Flash
Worldwide Wes? Some people think he may be the most powerful man in the sport of basketball. Dude's connected with just about everyone in each level of basketball from HS to the pros. Anyone?
Owner Real Deal Posted March 21, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted March 21, 2010 What, exactly? William Wesley? Basically, he's been the guy who has helped troubled athletes at every turn. Michael Jordan actually gave him his ticket into the league, though...hired him for his basketball camp, and the media jumped on Wesley's bandwagon since then. Wesley is the guy that ran up to Artest during the brawl, the one in the suit. A ton of people thought he was just someone in the Pacers' organization or something, but he's practically an "advisor" of sorts, like the advisors you see at colleges, haha. Flash
Yeah he's got A TON of connections. He's basically John Calipari's best recruiting tool.
BasX
He has a great influence on kids in high school and he is becoming an agent now.

Flash
After reading up on the guy all I can say is wow. His connections are crazy and he might just be the guy who gets LeBron to go to NY. There's a rumor that Josh Selby de-committed from UT after meeting with Wesley at a Nike camp. Coincidentally, the kid is now considering Arizona and Kentucky, 2 major Nike schools. If you guys want a good read, check out the TrueHoop about him, the GQ article and the article in the NY Times. Probably the most powerful man in the sport.

Flash
And Kansas. His mom loves KU, and with Brandon Knight likely UK bound its good for KU. I can guarantee you if this kid is connected with Wes he won't end up at KU. It's an Adidas school.

BasX
At the N.B.A. Players Association Camp in Charlottesville, Va., Selby was approached by William Wesley, an influential power broker in college basketball circles, after a game. Wesley, who is known as Worldwide Wes and now represents coaches in the N.B.A. and college ranks as an agent, asked Selby, “Can you play?” Selby said, “Didn’t you just watch the last game?” Selby walked away, and Wesley, put off by the affront, was introduced to Selby’s mother after a later game and told her that her son needed to watch his mouth because he did not realize who he was talking to. He also advised her to hire a track coach to help improve Selby’s speed. “When he said his name, my face froze,” Witherspoon said. “I was like, ‘You’re the infamous Wes. You’re the guy who everyone told me to stay away from.’ I had read all those pages about him being powerful in GQ.” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/17/sports/ncaabasketball/17hoops.html
Flash
http://www.nytimes.c...ll/17hoops.html Chalk one up for UT or KU. I figured when Wes spoke with him it was about how good he was and how he had to go to UK and all that. Seems like WWW dropped the ball on that one. he made up for it with Gilchrist and Knight though.
