Phightins
A couple of notes for today.... -Conor Jackson traded to Oakland- Adam Everett released by Tigers-Mark Mulder officially retires No shock with Jackson getting traded, and I am sure this is just the first domino to fall with the Diamondbacks. As far as Mulder, what a shame. Such a promising career ending way too early. Also sucks for the Cardinals, who traded Dan Haren for him back in the day. Phightins
Pedro Alvarez called up by the Pirates. The top-prospect bonanza continues.
Jenneral
Our first round pick (Dylan Covey) wants $300,000 than the recommended signing bonus amount. This worries me as I don't know if we'll give in and he can always go play college instead as he has a scholarship in place as well.
Phightins
The Pirates released Akinori Iwamura today, to make room for Pedro Alvarez. I am wondering if the Phillies give Iwamura a look if they DFA Greg Dobbs.
fish7718
Fredi Gonzalez fired, maybe the Marlins should make Hanley a player manager so he doesn't ostracize the next manager
Phightins
I feel bad for him. Another case of a manager taking the bullet for a team that just isn't that good, and ownership that can't/won't do what it takes to keep the team good. At least Fredi Gonzalez will land on his feet somewhere. I've always thought he's a hell of a manager. Jeffrey Loria immediately lost all respect from me today when he said "we owe it to our fans to put our team in the best possible situation to win", or something like that. Yeah, Jeffrey, the way to do that is to spend a little money, not fire a terrific manager. Between this and the Joe Girardi episode a few years ago, you have to wonder what those guys' agenda is. But anyway, HHH is right. Terrific franchise! Edited June 23, 2010 by Phightins

fish7718
Carlos Zambrano is a POS.No doubt, I'm sure they'd love to outright cut him but he's owed so much money, what would you do with him?

Phightins
Has anybody been watching the College World Series? Game 2 of the finals is on now. In extra innings, pretty entertaining.

Phightins
First somewhat-major trade of the deadline trade season. Rangers get Bengie Molina from the Giants for Chris Ray and a player to be named. Rangers look damn good. fish7718
Good trade for both teams, Giants make room for Posey and yeah Texas adds ALOT of power to that lineup, Molina could hit 30 in a full year playing for texas
Got Favors?
The Rangers have a sick future, but now they have that extra piece to push them perhaps over the top in their division this year. The pitching rotation has been exceptionally great, well, much better than expected.
Phightins
AJ Hinch fired by the Diamondbacks. Matter of time I guess. I did have higher expectations for them this year, but it must be hard to win with a bullpen as horrendous as theirs.
Phightins
Wow, talk about a [expletive]ty 7th inning for Cubs pitchers. 58 pitches, 34 of which were balls. 5 walks, 3 doubles. 9 runs in the inning. For the game, they have allowed 10 runs on 5 hits. Ouch. Walks will truly kill ya.

Phightins
Eh, that's true I could have. It was more of a general statement about how lethal walks are (and how bad the Cubs are).
