Angels place Fuentes, Rivera, Napoli, and Abreu on waivers.

I wouldn't mind having Abreu in our lineup.

There is no way he makes it to the Braves. They are near the bottom of the waiver order, anybody half-decent will be blocked before they get to the Braves.

For real, Major League Baseball needs to reevaluate some of it's umpires. Unfortunately, Joe West has a lot of tenure so he is probably going nowhere, but the league needs to do something about the little "minor-league fill-in" pricks like Scott Barry. The Ryan Howard incident last night was not the first time Scott Barry crossed the line, he did something similar to Ryan Zimmerman about a week ago.

You should write them a sweet letter about it.

LOL @ Damon denying the Sox's offer and staying in Detroit. I'm not sure if anyone has ever played for the Sox, then the Yankees, then had the balls to go back to the Sox.

I think Damon made the right call, TBH. He has already experienced playing in the AL East and he already has 2 rings. He has accomplished almost everything there is to accomplish in baseball. He seems happy in Detroit, and more importantly, he will get to pad his numbers against much weaker AL Central opponents for the next year or 2, or however long he continues playing. Believe it or not, his numbers are borderline Hall of Fame worthy right now, a couple more productive years may make him a lock.

Pooholes to win the triple crown this year?

IDK, but it is pretty sweet that he and Joey Votto are fighting for that. Maybe Placido Polanco [expletive]s both of them over by winning the batting title!

Yeah, I truly think he enjoys playing in Detroit. He knows they have a young squad and eventually can be contenders within a couple of years. Damon went into this situation as a veteran trying to help the younger fellas such as Austin Jackson, and he's succeeded at that.

The Yankees on the other hand have been playing decent baseball and I'm really hoping we can finally pull ahead of the Rays and stay ahead.

It's stupid. The same thing happened to Adrian Beltre tonight. He struck out, and wasn't happy, but didn't get ejected going back to the dugout. Then, when he went to 3rd he was talking to Felix Hernandez is spanish, and he was thrown out. .

Frank Thomas breaks down in emotional retirement ceremony

CHICAGO -- Frank Thomas turned around, looked at his mural on the left-center-field wall, and broke into tears Sunday at his Chicago White Sox number retirement ceremony.

"I had a speech written down, and as soon as I broke down, I couldn't even think about reading that thing,'' said Thomas, who spent 16 of his 18 years in Chicago, retiring with 521 homers and 495 doubles. He's eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2014.

"Frank Thomas is a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and to me, is the best hitter to ever wear this uniform,'' White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said, a former teammate of Thomas. "Frank Thomas did stuff in this organization that people won't forget. Frank put the White Sox back on the map.''

The White Sox also are erecting a statue of Thomas that will be on the concourse at U.S. Cellular Field next year, with Guillen joking, "Frank's so big, it's going to take two years just to make his nose.''

One of the greatest hitters of our era. Would be a shame if he's not first ballot.

A noticable difference, absolutely. But .510 OPS points difference on a guy with that much production? Never ever seen it.

Oh, I know. That is the extreme of all extremes. Guys like Todd Helton, Larry Walker, Dante Bichette (oh Bichette!), Vinny Castilla, Troy Tulowitzki, etc. all also have very unbalanced home/road splits, but obviously the Gonzalez example is pretty ridiculous lol.

Wow...I always knew Hawk Harrelson was annoying, but watching this entire game today has made me realize that he's almost unbearable. As much as I dislike the Phillies TV announcers, I think i'd want to cut my ears off if I had to listen to Hawk every day. I'm able to cope since I have Konerko on my fantasy team, though. :D
