Cleveland's Finest
According to multiple sources, the Cavaliers and Varejao have the ball rolling toward a new contract. The deal isn't done and because of the nature of the business the situation is fragile, but it appears things are lining up for Varejao to remain with the Cavs. Varejao's impact goes beyond his stats, where he averaged 8.6 points and 7.2 rebounds last season. His ability to defend multiple positions and his chemistry with LeBron James are both valued assets. http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/07/cleveland_cavaliers_making_pro.html I hear it could be a 4-5 year contract. I'm happy we'll get this out of the way. He was a key part to our season as we were 43-13 when he started last year. He was much better and I can only imagine how much better AV will be for us this year. Edited July 8, 2009 by Cleveland's Finest
BlueDevil
i thought for sure he would leave for a decent payday seeing as what other teams paid for role players. Hes at his best with Cleveland though, and is smart to stay put.
