La Bomba
From what I heard, Memphis is Josh Pastner's first choice, but he's going to listen to offers from St. John's, DePaul, etc. if he doesn't get a raise. Right now he's on a two year deal winning less than a million annually. Based on his recruiting class for next year and this season success (yes, the NIT is successful considering the lack of talent we had), he deserves a long term deal. R.C. Johnson better not let another coach slip away because this program was lucky to score a homerun hire with Pastner in the first place. La Bomba
"I've spent a lot of time on that with him, things I want to try to do for him to make this as attractive as humanly possible," Johnson (Memphis AD) said. "He told me the only basketball job he would leave for is if (L.A. Lakers owner Jerry Buss) called him and got LeBron (James) and he wanted to coach LeBron and Kobe (Bryant). I want to take care of him as best as I can and will continue to do everything humanly possible -- financially and from a budget standpoint and support-wise -- because we think the future is terrific with his leadership
