Flash
So I got to thinking, this job really can be the best one in America. Phil Knight is the best booster anyone could ever have. Instad of offering Izzo that huge deal, I would've given it to Calipari because a trio of Cal, Worlwide Wes and Phil Knight would turn that program into a one and done factory mixed in with quality kids who will stay for longer periods. Oregon has incredible facilities and they get gear that doesn't come out for other teams until maybe a year after Oregon gets it. I just feel like that program is a sleeping giant if they could get a guy like Calipari or someone who recruits those one and done type kids. La Bomba
The same can be said about plenty of programs. Memphis has Fred Smith as a booster, has some amazing basketball facilities, academics are easy compared to other power schools, recently signed a fat deal with Nike, and is in a great basketball area for recruitng. That's just the program that I am most familiar with. There are plenty of programs that offer what Oregon can offer. Even if North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, etc. had worse facilities or worse boosters, coaches would still go there because of the history in those programs over a place like Oregon that has had a mediocre basketball program for years. The key is WWW. He's got the most pull with these HS kids and its why they all head over to play for Cal at UK and before at Memphis. None of those schools have the relationship with Nike that Oregon does either. Have you seen Oregon's facilities? They're the tops in the nation for sure. Notice how Derrick Rose passed his ACT in Detroit, the same city where WWW does business?
