Cobb
Notre Dame recruit Matt James died Friday in Panama City, Fla., after falling from a hotel balcony, a high school spokesman has confirmed. James, 17, was vacationing in Florida for spring break. A 6-foot-6, 291-pound offensive tackle, James was named USA Today first-team All-American after leading Cincinnati's St. Xavier to a No. 4 ranking in the final state poll. James' former teammates from the football and basketball teams gathered for a private prayer service in the school's chapel on Saturday, led by chaplain Paul Rieselman.ESPN.com Very sad to see someone with a bright future die like this. Flash
Very sad story. He was apparently really drunk at the time too. RIP and prayers go out to his family.
YugoRocketsFan
Confusing thread title, he isnt irish, and it makes it weirder because he died of something intoxicated-related.

crabbylion
Tragic, but there is two sides to every story. We have to realize that we all are the captains of our own vessels. You make your bed, you must lay in it. I hardly doubt that someone pushed him off. I've lived in Florida for 20+ years and we see it all the time. Northerners get that spring fever and come down here after a brutal winter, and the only thing on their minds is "Woohooo...Florida spring break!" Condolences to James' family but let this be a lesson learned to other high school athletes. Life aint a constant party!
