Butler coach Brad Stevens, who led the Bulldogs to the NCAA tournament final, has agreed to a contract extension through the 2021-22 season, the school announced.

"[My wife] Tracy and I are thrilled and very thankful for the opportunity to continue to play a role for Butler University," Stevens said in a statement. "We are already looking forward to the 2010-11 season."

That means Stevens, 33, is out of the running for current head coach openings.

And Butler gets a chance to make another championship run with him at the helm next season.

Awesome news. Good to know that two mid major coaches, Stevens and Jacobson, who were going to get offers from bigger programs decided to sign a long extensions in their current schools. College sports needs more coaches like this and less like Lane Kiffin's and John Calipari's.
