His Greatness
In the hypothetical situation that you were forced to pick between these two, for LA, which player would you rather have?
Warren2ThaG
Artest. because Phil would actually start him with Pau and Bynum.
Legacy
When motivated, I'd pick Odom. But he's not motivated enough.
KurbyFX
Odom fits perfectly in the triangle offense, I don't understand why he benches Odom.
Erick Blasco
Odom fits perfectly in the triangle offense, I don't understand why he benches Odom. He doesn't bench Odom so much as he brings him off the bench. Odom dominates second-tier players, but if you play him with Gasol and Bynum, he becomes a small-forward, something he really isn't. Also, he's not a great defender at the three. I'd probably take Odom though because of his offensive versatility, athleticism his length, though I really like Artest's game. The Artesticle
Odom can do a little bit of everything, but he's not really good at anything. Honestly I'll take Ron Artest any day of the week. We all saw how horrible Lamar was pre-Gasol. He only started to get better when we traded for Pau, before that time, it was usually 1 good game followed by 5 horrible/invisible ones. But I agree with Yama, that if motivated and focused I'd probably pick Lamar, but those two things are probably two of the biggest weaknesses of his game. If you watch him often enough you sometimes ask yourself if he even cares about basketball. Then he fools you and plays like an allstar for one game, raising your hopes, before immediately becoming invisible the next game.
Agent_28
Odom fits perfectly in the triangle offense, I don't understand why he benches Odom.Cause we have to have some production off the bench. As someone said when Odom plays up to his potential, Id rather have him, but he doesnt always do that.
