Lkr
I don't get what the last sentence is in reference to, help me out. His being 2nd string on such a weak team and being cut to give Greene the feature should tell you what I've been trying to.You were talking about how Greene had such a great average last year. Jones has done it over his career with Chicago, Arizona, and TB as well. Jones is getting up their in age, but is still pretty fresh because the Jets foolishly limited his carries last year even though he was putting up monster numbers. He could have had over 2000 yards last year if he had been given more carries. I don't know why we're debating this anyway, of course they'd cut an older guy for a newer guy. The problem is you're saying their running game will be better by bringing in a dead LT and getting rid of Jones. Greene benefited quite a bit from having Jones taking carries. fish7718
Cutting Jones and signing LT was a TERRIBLE move for the Jets. I would still say its the NFC East, but that could be my bias talking. Btw before we call the AFC East the best division let's not forget most people didn't even think the Jets deserved to go the playoffs last year and the Patriots only won like 1 game road. I wouldn't put the AFC East over the NFC East. Edited April 14, 2010 by Fish7718
NomarFachix
You were talking about how Greene had such a great average last year. No I didn't. Jones is getting up their in age, but is still pretty fresh because the Jets foolishly limited his carries last year even though he was putting up monster numbers. He could have had over 2000 yards last year if he had been given more carries. Jones would have required 476 carries to get to 2,000 yards. Larry Johnson holds the single season record with 416 for the Chiefs, and his career died shortly after. Also, Jones failed down the stretch, with 19 carries for 52 yards, 23 carries for 105 yards (against Colts backups), and 27 rushes for 78 yards in the final three games, before admitting fatigue and breakdown in the playoffs, where Greene was able to shine. I don't know why we're debating this anyway, of course they'd cut an older guy for a newer guy. The problem is you're saying their running game will be better by bringing in a dead LT and getting rid of Jones. Greene benefited quite a bit from having Jones taking carries. A team as "win-now" as the Jets are would not cut a superior player for the sake of getting younger, when the have the youth on hand regardless. Let alone go out and sign an LT, who, believe it or not, was signed because he is the opposite halfback as Jones.
