crabbylion
It seems like every other week some senior citizen or neborn baby either gets severely mauled or killed by the breed. I'm a dog fanatic, in fact i've owned a couple of PBT in my lifetime. I also have children in my home, so what gives. I would like to know what do you think should be the fate of the breed. They can be very loyal and sweet dogs, but as you have seen they can be killers. Please share your thoughts on what our state and federal governments should do. I'll vote first. Also, for you dog owners, I recently posted on my blog about simple remedies you can use to rid fleas. If its an issue in your home feel free to check it out. Thanks! bigdog17k
Keep your dog confined when not present, keep them away from children. But I don't think this breed should be banned.

crabbylion
Lets ban bears and sharks, too. Jokes, man? You know anyone that has tried domesticating a shark and a Grizzly? Seriously, don't you think this a little "apples & oranges"?

Exactly! I've only heard this for years. Seems like we've forgetten this simple common sense rule of thumb.
NomarFachix
Pitbulls are safe with the right type of owner. Unfortunately, too many people who have no idea how to handle a dog purchase one to be a badass.
YugoRocketsFan
The Pitbull Terrier you are thinking of is this http://www.appletreeblog.com/wp-content/2008/07/bull-terrier.jpg These are actually very good dogs, and great with kids. You must be thinking about the American Pitbull Just as Bounding and Astounding said, they are right with the perfect type of owner, and kids do buy those dogs because they think they are bad [expletive], and they use them to fight other dogs, disgusting human beings. His Greatness
I see it the same way with guns. Only morons that mishandle them add to their stigma. Plus if they were banned, I would have nothing to fight on the weekends.

I say ban the deed, not the breed. Pitbulls are powerful dogs, but they aren't born ready to kill someone. EVERY dog breed is just as likely to bite/kill someone if they are treated poorly or taunted by someone. Pitbulls are great dogs, and if they are treated properly and raised with proper corrections and a proper attitude towards them than they aren't going to be dangerous. The dogs that cause the most dog bites in the world are smaller dogs like Chihuahuas and Mini Dobis, except these bites are usually just surface wounds so they go unreported. If you make a chihuahua 10x its size and power, it would be considered the most dangerous breed. I want a pitbull so bad, but they're banned in Ontario so I can't get one. reno
Sorry but I hate pitbulls with a passion, always have, and always will. I remember back in the day my friends mocked me about one of my friends pitbulls cause i was scared to go by it. Said the same bs its the most friendly dog we know. You know what happened? One day the door was left open, and the pitbull went out and killed the neighbors cat and attacked a construction worker. F that, ban them all. s.t.a.t.
A few of my friends have pit bulls, they are really really nice outgoing dogs. Very playful and I just love how they look. They are very smart and protective though. One of my friends was joking around with the pit bulls owner and hit him and the dog came over growling at him, just as a polive K9 would. Very controversial but no way they should be banned, just the dumbass owners who treat them in the wrong way give em a bad rep.

Poe
Jokes, man? You know anyone that has tried domesticating a shark and a Grizzly? Seriously, don't you think this a little "apples & oranges"?I think you are putting humans in a higher importance than animals. Yea, ban dogs for killing a human. What about banning snakes for killing a rat? Or maybe this would make more sense to you, since you don't give animals any level of importance. How about a person with black skin killed somebody. Should all black people be banned? I can give a thousand examples. Simply put, your whole idea makes no sense. Dogs aren't machines that you feed and walk. They are living things that live, breath, and feel like us. It doesn't matter how many people they kill, you can't ban them. If any rule should be made, bad treatment of dogs should be banned. A bad owner makes a bad dog. Dogs aren't born with the natural motive of killing somebody, unless they are raised to by mistreatment. Ban improper ownership, not the dogs themselves.
