Chris Bosh: "There has to be changes"

I was just watching the end of season press conference, and the last question asked if Bosh would come back to THIS team or if there would have to be changes. He said that this team needs changes, seeing as they didn't make the playoffs and so on, click the link to see his and other players end of season responses.

Anyways, so this honestly makes me think we have one last shot at retaining Bosh. Colangelo needs to hit a homerun at the draft through a trade if we are going to have any chance at keeping Bosh IMO.

Do you think that a few moves could convince CB4 to stick around, if so what sort of moves? Or is he just talking out of his [expletive] and is already planning his flight to New York or Miami?

I've never believed for a second that Bosh has already packed his bags and signed with another team. Even with the Raptors not making the playoffs I didn't think that it was the final nail in the coffin of Bosh's career here in Toronto.

Do I think that the Raptors missing the playoffs would make him think more about his decision? Absolutely. However, I don't think that if Bosh leaves it will be because of the Raptors missing out on the playoffs.

A few moves can absolutely make Bosh want to re-sign with the Raptors. Like he said in his press conference, if the Raptors are able to land an All-Star caliber wing player like an Andre Iguodala or a Danny Granger (just two names that popped into my head, not saying that they will get one of them) at the draft by trading some sort of package involving the Raptors 12/13th pick, the $10M expirings of Banks and Evans and maybe another asset it would absolutely factor into his decision about whether or not he wants to stay with Toronto. If the Raptors can take it one step further and land a center like Brendan Haywood or any other tough, physical, defensive minded center with their MLE in the summer, I can definitely see Bosh coming back to the Raptors next year. If they have a lineup of something like:

PG: Jack/Calderon

SG: Iguodala/DeRozan

SF: Turkoglu/Weems

PF: Bosh/Johnson

C: Bargnani/Haywood

it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him re-sign.

Now obviously this lineup has its flaws and wouldn't be contenders, but it would show Bosh that the franchise is finally commited to building a team around him and bringing in pieces that are necessary for a team to win. Who knows, if Iguodala becomes an 18/5/5 player, Turkoglu manages to get his game back (yeah right) and put up something like 14/5/5 next season and Bargnani imrpoves as a defender and rebounder, this team could be a pretty good team next summer with Bosh in the lineup.

You have to factor in tha tthese players all of huge egos. There is absolutely no way that Chris Bosh wants to admit to himself that he is unable to be the main man on a team that makes a deep postseason run. He has a huge belief in himself and thinks that he can be a bonafide number one option in the league. The jury is out on whether or not this is the case, but in Bosh's I would imagine that there is nothing more important to him than winning playoff series while being the main man.

From watching Bosh over the past 7 years, I don't think that he is the kind of player who would want to go to a team like Miami or Oklahoma City and become known as Dwyane Wade or Kevin Durant's "Robin". He is the kind of guy who wants to have somebody be his "Robin".

That is why I don't think that we will see Bosh sign with the Heat this offseason or go to New York if somebody like James goes there. If Bosh is going to leave the Raptors in the summer, I think that he will be going to Chicago where he will still be considered the best player on the team and will have the best supporting cast he has ever had in his career in Rose, Hinrich, Noah and Deng.

I could be completely off base here and for all we know, Bosh has already come to the decision that he is going to leave Toronto this offseason, I don't know. However, I think it is funny that basically everybody, fans of the NBA (including many Raptor fans), journalists and analysts have already come to the conclusion that Bosh is gone come July 8th (or whenever it is that free agents can sign with new teams). There is a lot that can still happen between now and then.

With all of this said, I am fully prepared for the Raptors to start next season with a core of Calderon/Turkoglu/Bargnani. I just want to hold onto any sort of hope, whether it is false hope or not, I don't care, that I won't have to watch that next season.

wait hold on...you are willing to keep turk around? i would ship his [expletive] out in a heartbeat..he aint worth it

And who exactly do you propose to trade him for?

Elton Brand?

Gilbert Arenas?

Those are basically the only two guys that you would be able to trade Turkoglu for. Nobody is going to touch his contract and the only way that you can dump him is if you are taking on a worse contract than his.

Unless some GM loses his mind, the Raptors are going to be stuck with Turkoglu for the next 4 seasons, might as well get used to it.

i dont have any ideas, im just sayin i would try everything to get rid of someone who clearly doesnt care about playin for his team and is happy with the money he is making...at least thats what i conclude..i dont follow the raps much but being in toronto i obviously hear the fan views and they aren't too nice from my experience

Turkoglu isn't even the guy I would use my amnesty cut on if we had one. Jose Calderon is our worst player, contracts and everything considered. At least Hedo is a talented player, Jose is completely useless and is one of the main reasons Hedo was such a disappointment.

I wish we would just buy Jose out, he is utter trash.
