ChosenOne
Boston's Kevin Garnett suspended for one game NEW YORK -- Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics has been suspended without pay for one game for striking the Miami Heat's Quentin Richardson in the head with an elbow, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. Richardson has been fined $25,000 for his role in the altercation. The incident occurred with 40 seconds remaining in the fourth period of the Celtics' 85-76 victory over the Heat in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round on Saturday at TD Garden. ChosenOne
I didn't feel he deserved it, but I'll take it. How is this coming from a Heat fan? He clearly threw an elbow at his face and connected on purpose.

Poe
Haha what? He' prolly deserves more than 1 game.He was protecting his teammate and trying to clear space. If the elbow was intentional, then he deserves it, but I still can't tell if it was or not.
Clutch
bro elbows and kg = ALWAYS INTENTIONAL
Jenneral
The only thing I don't understand is why Richardson was also fined $25,000. Whether his intentions were good or not he was just checking on Pierce. You can't fine him for his comments after the whole ordeal.
ChosenOne
He was protecting his teammate and trying to clear space. If the elbow was intentional, then he deserves it, but I still can't tell if it was or not. In the video I posted above forward to 23 seconds, he clearly looks back and throws the bow. That should clear everything up.
Poe
In the video I posted above forward to 23 seconds, he clearly looks back and throws the bow. That should clear everything up.It does. From what I remembered last night, it just looked like he was trying to get everyone away from Pierce, and the elbow to the face seemed like it could have been an accident. The vid clears it up, he was looking behind him. The only thing I don't understand is why Richardson was also fined $25,000. Whether his intentions were good or not he was just checking on Pierce. You can't fine him for his comments after the whole ordeal. It's the NBA. The players aren't allowed to have opinions.

moeroadkill
I would love to hear the reasoning behind this.... u cant tell if it was or wasnt intentional look at all the guys grabbing him It's the NBA. The players aren't allowed to have opinions. there is no need to voice it to the media like he did
Poe
there is no need to voice it to the media like he didWhy not? They asked and he talked. But I guess you're right, according to the NBA, it's a crime to talk.
Sun Tzu
That was easily intentional lol, he deserves that suspension and I wouldn't have been surprised if KG wasn't suspended for more than one game.

Someone being a bit biased?
moeroadkill
Ok so its cool to elbow someone in the face intentionally but a guy can't talk about it afterward? Someone being a bit biased? biased? no this happens all the time in the NBA look what phill said. look what kg said about Durant there has been heaps of cases im not saying he isn't allowed to to have opinions but the players/coaches know what they can and cant say to the media cmon now? put urself in kgs shoes guys are grabbing at u (who knows they could of thrown in elbows or anything and the camera doesnt see it) all to me is he was trying to get free, yeah, no need to swing ur elbows that viscously. but its not kgs fault it just happened to hit him in the face. what if the dude was a few inches taller and hit him in his chest? would that be a suspension?

Guys were grabbing at him because he started [expletive] with Q for no reason. What do you expect starting something in front of our bench. Any now since you wanna make up a scenario, no it wouldn't be but this was above the shoulders and to the guys face, so no it wouldn't be. I'd say the chest and the face are different scenarios no? You honestly believe Garnett's elbow wasn't intentional? The camera showed everyone involved and it was clearly KG who started everything. The worst thing someone on the Heat did was when UD pushed Davis out of the way.
moeroadkill
they are both in the wrong Q shouldnt of walked up to "take the ball out of bounds" he knew exactly what he was doing KG pushed him back (ever so slightly) and then i cant remember wat happens i dont really wanna watch it for the 100th time. but i think baby and UD made things worse as far as im concerned thats not a suspension and i honestly think KG didnt mean to make contact with anyone Edited April 19, 2010 by MoeRoadKill
