The Regime
Ron Artest has done an admirable job defending Kevin Durant this postseason, but he's still having issues learning the Lakers' complex triangle offense. Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times wrote Saturday, "Long before tipoff, just past noon on Saturday, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum were instructing Ron Artest after the Lakers' shoot-around." The pair were trying to help Artest find the best angles for entry passes. "We were trying to show him how to do certain things," Gasol said. Phil Jackson told Artest beforehand to pass more often, but the Lakers' coach isn't frustrated with him… yet. "He's a naïve, innocent lamb," Jackson said. "I think he's mistaken in a lot of ways, put in the same category as Dennis Rodman. There couldn't be a bigger disparity between people." http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/66181/20100425/artest_still_learning_triangle_offense/

crabbylion
Artest doesnt have the mental capacity to learn the triangle offense LOL, Dang, man! You say that like you know him. How do you know what Artest has the mental capacity to handle? After all, the man did grow up in Queensbridge, NY. I'd say on account of that, he has the mentals to handle a lot of seemingly complicated things. Besides was the media complaining about this during the season when Artest was helping the Lakers mash up the Pacific division. Its only now that OKC is gettin in their a**** its a promblem. If I were an owner he could lead my defensive squad any day.
Owner Real Deal Posted April 26, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted April 26, 2010 He can learn it, and he will someday (it took Odom 3-4 years to really get it down), but that's not the issue. Artest isn't running to the correct places on the court, but he's still getting open shots, and he's still missing those open jumpers. THAT'S the main concern. Ron isn't facilitating the offense, and he's not a primary or secondary option on offense. Not even the third scoring option. He doesn't necessarily have to learn the advanced aspects of the triangle, just the basics. However, learning the offense doesn't help knock down your shots, because he's still getting open for them. kingfish
It wont matter cause his hand is busted up so he cant make any jumpers. Whats new man, every damn player on our team has a busted hand. Even Shannon sucks now cause his hand is busted.
