Miami Heat Offseason Discussion Thread

Title speaks for itself.

We have a lot of needs to address with all this cap space. You have to think its Bosh/Amare/Boozer or bust for Riles if he wants to keep Wade. Then after that you need to solidify the PG position. Raymond Felton is the guy I really want along with Randy Foye. Even with his bad year in Washington, he does what we need a PG to do and that's shoot the 3,run the offense and differ to Wade. His defense needs work but there's no doubt our staff can use his natural physical tools to make him into a more than capable defender. Maybe a name like Kyle Lowry could be an option as well.

Then comes Beasley. As much as I love Mike in Miami, I just don't think he'll ever develop here and that's a shame because he's got more natural talent than anyone on our roster, yes, including Dwyane. Ridicule me all you want for feeling that way but that's JMO. If you can deal Michael for a guy that can become a piece for us to win a ring then I say do it. Maybe attempt to swing a deal for either of NO's PG's because its no secret that they're in a financial situation. Maybe a guy like Jerryd Bayless over in Portland could be a target but I expect them to hand him the PG spot next year. Michael could also be used in a S&T with other teams like Minnesota for say, Al Jefferson? I know Minny has said they won't deal him but we'll see just how true that is.

Center is a HUGE need as well and we saw why with Jermaine this series. He had a decent season but is just a shell of his former self. Brendan Haywood is now option number 1 I'd assume now that Camby has signed the extension with Portland. Not sure of the other names out there but Amare could possibly play C here if he signs with us as could Bosh.

I'd like to see us keep Q although I feel like his performance this season will prompt some team to grossly overpay him and Dorell as too. UD is a must at all costs. You can't afford to have him in a different uniform. Joel Anthony should be back as well. Absolutely love what he brings to our team.

Don't you think Beasly would be a wasted draft pick if they let him go? He just got there. Bosh could be the one to help him develop and I'd love to see Bosh down south!!!!!! :D

Riley is in panic mode and he should be. The rest of the Southeast division is not gonna wait on the Heat and I think Riley is aware of that. Micheal Jordan and his Bobcats won't wait and you see what the Hawks have been able to do. I do see Felton actually coming down to Miami, though.

I'm starting to think it might be time to cut our losses with Michael tbh. If we can acquire something for him then its time to do so. Maybe a S&T with Phoenix, Utah or Toronto to get one of the big names.

I'm not worried about Charlotte or Atlanta. The Hawks don't really have the flexibility to improve their roster all that much and do you really think they're a contender? Even in the future? If anything, they're going to be the Phoenix of the East. The team who is always good but can never get over the hump. Orlando is really the only team that is in position to be a perrenial contender in our division.

Bosh in Miami would be huge. Having him next to Wade would definitely be a great start for us.

Felton or Foye at PG for me though. I think after Foye's recent stint in Washington is over as they are gonna try and clear some cap space.

This is from Chris Sheridan's latest article.

These were among Dwyane Wade's parting words, and they were bold ones, after the Miami Heat were eliminated by the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of their first-round series Tuesday night:

"This will be my last first-round exit for a while, I'll tell you that."

Bold indeed, but most significant was the fact that Wade did not give any hint that he expects to advance to the second round or beyond with any team other than his current one, the Miami Heat.

"I can't predict the future. It's going to be a very important summer, it's going to be a busy summer, but right now I have to get this out of my system first," Wade said. "I'm a good sportsman but I don't take losing well, so it's going to take a while to get over this, and then start pondering my future."

As has been well-documented, Wade plans to opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent this summer when the free agent class shapes up as the strongest and deepest in NBA history.

But Wade has also made it clear that his preference is to remain with the Heat, who currently expect to have about $24 million in cap room (and could have more if they can clear Michael Beasley, James Jones and Daequan Cook from their cap, a possibility I alluded to in Monday's chat in suggesting Minnesota or New Jersey -- apologies for omitting Sacramento -- as teams with cap space who may find it advantageous to use their room to acquire talent from Miami in what would be a lopsided trade, salary-wise.)

Beasley, it should be pointed out, was benched for the entire second half of Game 5.

"I'm looking forward to a good team to build, and being with some great players next year, and to continue to beef up our roster," Wade said.

Notice his use of the pronoun "our."

And also note that at no point did Wade ever expressly state a desire to head elsewhere. But he did place the onus on Pat Riley to make things happen over the summer.

"I'm not putting no pressure on myself. I think I put myself in a great situation three years ago to sign this deal to make sure that my team stays competitive. We've got some work to do, the front office has to do it, and there's no pressure on me," Wade said. "I've said where my heart is, and I think any player that's thinking about wanting to come to Miami, they know where my heart is. You just have to see things being done and accomplished.

"We see that, and we'll be talking again."

What happened to Beasley? I recall you guys were raving about him mid-season but now he's as good as gone?

He's shown flashes and I would love to keep him. But if you can get a piece that could get you a title you gotta make the deal.

I hear a lot of rumors lately about Bosh coming down for sure. Bosh and Wade = rings. I also hear Joe Johnson has interest, maybe we can get all three?

Not enough money to fill out the rest of our roster.

Where are you hearing those Bosh rumors? If that's true then you'll see a lot of veterans come here for cheap to play with those 2 which is good for our money situation.

I heard on 790 the ticket this morning, and ESPN was talking about it. Nothing for sure, I might have taken it a bit far when I said he was coming for sure, but it seems like its more likely than Amare and Boozer.

I just get the sense Bosh wants to be the man wherever he goes and we really don't offer that. Idk hopefully we get him but I won't get my hopes up on him.

I think Bosh and Wade can play well together, without taking away from their scoring averages too much. Bosh can't win anything by himself, I hope he realizes that he is not that kind of big man, his best opportunity to win is with a guy like Wade.
