Wizards interested in Beasley?

Beasley came into the draft as a big man, because that's what he was at K-State. If you look back, it makes sense...but not in the NBA. Beasley needs to do everything possible to mold his game after LeBron James, learning how to pass, how to attack the rim and get shooters open looks, and find out ways to use his athleticism to block shots, steal passes and improve his help defense, overall.

If he were elsewhere, it would be easier to say how well he'll play in the future...but as of now, it's a tough call. He's still just a sophomore, though.

I agree, and that's a lot of stuff I was hearing over last summer. He did guard drills to try to improve his perimeter play, though he didn't play SF much this year. We'll most likely see a change in his position after this summer.

His minutes did vary each game, and that's due to Spoelstra and the heat coaching staff developing him. They aren't giving him freedom like most future star rookies. They are making him earn his minutes by correcting certain things, mostly on the defensive end. If he didn't show what the coaches were looking for, he'd get pulled.

Bease has shown improvement. He's become a much better ball hawk, and he's blocking shots from time to time. His rotations are becoming more consistent and his overall positioning in both on and off ball defense has improved a great deal. Most importantly, mainly from the way his minutes were handled, he's putting more and more self importance on the defensive end. Had he gone to a different team, you'd never see so much excitement from him drawing a charge.

His offense was down much more than he would have been on a different team. The entire focus of this year was on the defensive end, an area that he had never put importance to in his life, so as a result he struggled on offense. When so much mental and physical effort is put on to one end of the floor doing things he hasn't fully understood how to do, plus the fact that he could get pulled for a slight mistake lingering on the back of his mind, it's going to affect the other end of his game.

I believe it will be by next year the coaches will start giving him the green light and start giving him more freedom to get into his rhythm, and we should see a good amount of overall increase in his stats because of it.

After acquiring what will most likely be a power forward through free agency, that should push Beasley to SF where he can play the perimeter, which is better suited for his face-up playstyle. His passing game as far as being more of a fluid part of the offense has improved as well, so I'm not so worried about that. What I am worried about is his perimeter shooting game, and his ability to handle the ball more without turnover the ball. His natural offensive talent should make up for all of that, though. I look forward to seeing how he plays as a third option.
