ChosenOne
An MRI on Andrew Bynum's right knee revealed a small tear in the anterior horn of the lateral meniscus. He can play through the injury but is officially questionable for Game 1 on Sunday. Bynum has had a "very small" hole in the meniscus since last summer, which became "small" when he hyperextended it on Friday. We're leery given his history of injuries, but he should be fine as long as he manages the pain. One positive is that Utah can't deploy perimeter-oriented Mehmet Okur to lure him out of the paint defensively. Twitter
The Artesticle
Big Drew's injured? Oh [expletive]. I am so surprised
crabbylion
This young man must be really trying to destroy his knees EARLY. You think Phil's apply pressure that the media isn't disclosing?
Nitro
This young man must be really trying to destroy his knees EARLY. You think Phil's apply pressure that the media isn't disclosing? Bynum is a very, very large man. According to his own words he was still growing in his 2nd or 3rd season (I remember reading his blog, if I find it I'll supply the exact quote). Big men like Bynum are highly vulnerable to leg injuries, just look at Yao. If the Lakers are to go anywhere, Bynum needs to be healthy. Just look at the last 13 games of the regular season when he was out, then in contrast look at the impact he had in the series against the Thunder. The Bynum/Gasol factor is what makes the Lakers special, aside from Kobe. They could probably slip by the Jazz or even the Spurs/Suns without him, but they have NO chance of beating Cleveland or Orlando with him playing significantly injured or out completely. ChosenOne
Knee surgery possible for Andrew Bynum Andrew Bynum said he feels right knee pain in "every step ... but I think its something that I can go through to the end of this year."Bynum would miss "one or two weeks" if he had minor arthroscopic surgery to repair the hole in his meniscus, but that sounds like a final resort. Laker GM Mitch Kupchak said "We’re not that concerned about it developing into something bigger than it is today" and Bynum will endure the pain unless it becomes unbearable http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=NBA&hl=135949
CaliCurbStomppa
This isn't good. How many surgery did he get like? i think this is maybe his third? This guy gotta be careful and don't rush anything
Owner Real Deal Posted May 3, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted May 3, 2010 I believe he had his first knee surgery when he was in high school. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...but I read that somewhere. Then two of them as a pro. So this would be his fourth...haha, what a waste. The longer we keep him, the less valuable he becomes. Should've done everything in our power to trade him for Bosh, if those rumors were true.
