The Regime
Jeff Van Gundy doesn't believe that simply signing LeBron James would make the Bulls a title contender. Van Gundy acknowledges that James would make Chicago better, but doesn't think they'd immediately be among the NBA's elite. "Any team that gets him along with Derrick Rose and [Joakim] Noah, you're going to have a good team," Van Gundy said before Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday. "A lot depends on how much they have to give up to get him. If it's a sign and trade, what other moves they'd make, but I would not think they would be a championship-caliber team right away. But I think they'll be a top-3 or -4 team." Van Gundy added that he isn't sure where James will sign. "I think there's a lot of opinions, but I don't think there's any informed opinions," he said. "So I have no idea, nor does anyone else, except him. He'll make the decision that's best for him, and still, the team that adds him is going to have to play well to win a championship. We've seen the last two years in Cleveland, they have very good teams, but they haven't been able to get it done." http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/66611/20100516/jeff_van_gundy_bulls_need_more_than_lebron/
Erick Blasco
I'm looking at their team as is with LeBron on it. That offense would generate absolutely no spacing. Gibson could knock down a jumper or two from the power forward spot, but teams could really pack the paint, and that's with Hinrich playing the two. If the Bulls try to get wacky and play LeBron and Deng at each wing, they'd have the same problems. They also have no bulk up front, unless they play Brad Miller, who is the basic equivalent of Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The Bulls would probably be a second round team, and a Conference Finals team tops, assuming Orlando and Boston continue to be Orlando and Boston. Make It Naaaashty
I agree with JVG, if the Bulls want to go deep into the playoffs they are going to need shooters to space out the floor and an athletic big man who can shoot the J to run the pick n rolls with Lebron. Guest Zyzz
Whoever wrote this article is a dumbass. You think that Chicago automatically thinks they are contenders with Lebron? I dont think so. There are more pieces that need to be added. It's crystal clear.
Newman
I am pretty sure if LeBron joins Chicago, there should be very little problem recruiting a shooter or two and whatever else they need to push them to the top.
