Dash
DeMarcus Cousins says he got "a really good vibe" from Minnesota today and that he thinks they would pick him if he were there at 4. Good to hear, hopefully stops the "Wes Johnson going #4" crap.
Cleveland's Finest
I assume Jefferson is on the block if this is the case.
Owner Real Deal Posted May 22, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted May 22, 2010 I assume Jefferson is on the block if this is the case.Would make sense, really...but I still think that vibe will come to a close once the Wolves go after that #2 hard. Cousins has potential to be a borderline all-star within the first 3-4 years of his career, but he takes a backseat to Evan Turner in this year's draft, no matter who is picking. HipHopHead
Cousins will go #3 to the Nets anyway.or favors, i'd prefer favors at this point. imo, cousins will be nothing more than an andrew bynum type player his whole career. favors has ridiculous upside. I don't see the problem with that, at all. Cousins an all-star? That's a bad thing?

I just don't think he has near the upside the other potential top five picks have and is a pretty big risk. With the 2nd or 3rd pick you need to draft an all-star, notice how Bynum went 17th? Bynum was the 10th pick in the 2005 draft. And again, I don't see how those aren't all-star numbers, if you're going to say he has the potential of being another Andrew Bynum. Minus injuries, and as a primary or second option, Bynum is most definitely an all-star player...not to mention he basically is an all-star as a third option on the Lakers. If a team was guaranteed that Cousins would be averaging 15 PPG and 8 RPG before he reached his prime, that would most definitely be worth a top three pick. NomarFachix
Bynum only went so late (10) because he was a high school pick and was very, very raw. His potential as a focal point of an offense was always crazy high. Edited May 22, 2010 by Bounding and Astounding

Flash
Since when do scoring options not exist? And what don't you see in Cousins that says he won't be a star? I actually think he's one of the few players who can be better than Wall in this class.

Favors has a much better offensive skill set at this point. There's no such thing as scoring options, there is no scientific proof that there are in the NBA. It's not like a coach makes a [expletive]ing list of players who should score on the team more than others rofl.
Owner Real Deal Posted May 22, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted May 22, 2010 There is no such thing as scoring "options" lol, this isn't a sim league. No, it's not a sim league, it's a set offense. There are most definitely scoring options, prioritized in an offense. Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich have mentioned scoring options quite a bit, most recently in a Phil Jackson interview talking about how Artest can be a legit 3rd or 4th option on the team. It's the same concept as a go-to guy in the fourth quarter. In fact, some coaches mark up ideal shot attempts per player, and use them on the whiteboard to tell their team who all needs to shoot, and who needs to limit their shots. Phil has done it with Chicago, and Brown did it with Detroit. Balanced offense makes for preserved energy and fluid scoring...some players can't take 20 shots per game, some can. And, regardless of that, I still don't see why it would be bad to take a potential 15/8 player (walking into his prime) with one of the first three picks. When has the kid been in trouble at UK? He gets pissed on the court because he wants to win more than anyone there. You're completely wrong about his offensive game too. He's got a very good mid range game that he didn't really get to display at UK all that much, he a bruiser down low and just swallows any rebound that comes off the rim. He can create his own shot and get to the line as well. I don't understand where you get the idea that Derrick Favors of all people has a better skill set. I love Favors and I think eventually he's gonna be the second best player in this draft, but his offensive game is beyond raw at this point. He's got great offensive potential no doubt, but to say his skillset is better than Cousins is ludicrous. Dude can't create his own shot at all.
