Dash
Two signings in the morning.Grant Hill(notes) has decided to re-sign with Phoenix, and a large part of the decision is based on the belief that Steve Nash(notes) is close to reaching an agreement on a contract extension, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Hill has begun telling associates he’s staying with the Suns. Phoenix owner Robert Sarver, general manager Steve Kerr and coach Alvin Gentry met with Hill on Wednesday night and Thursday morning in Florida. The Suns will also sign free agent Channing Frye(notes) to a two-year deal for $3.8 million, sources said. The second season is at Frye’s option. Link Frye is a good pickup but why did Grant return? At his age I thought he would want to win a ring.
JWaLL
I'm surprised he didn't go to the Celtics. I agree you'd think he would want a ring at this age...
The Goods
Frye will be a good addition to the Suns team, and it was the right decision to bring back Hill.

Multi-Billionaire
I tried to figure out why Hill's resigning... I can't. Money obviously doesn't matter to him since he's getting paid in his Orlando Magic days without playing... signing with the Knicks would make sense since his wife would get to boost her career there and NY is a big stage, players love to play there... signing with contenders will win him a title. I don't think Hill is stupid to fail to realize Suns won't get past Lakers, Nuggets, Spurs in playoffs? This is probably one of the most idiotic free agent moves in the last decade... more idiotic than McDyess who turned down the chance to play with us last November. At least Dice can say "who knew Detroit would suck? At least I'm in San Antonio now". I can't find a reason why he resigns with Suns. Except maybe one... that he would get to wear #33. Knicks had it retired for Ewing, Celtics retired it for Bird... Hill can't play other number than #33... which is pretty damn stupid. Sun Tzu
Maybe winning a ring isn't his goal? Maybe he wanted to play in Phoenix under Gentry? Edited July 11, 2009 by Sun Tzu
Multi-Billionaire
^So he plays randomly without purpose? It's not like he averaged 20 pts under Gentry, he can put the same numbers on a championship caliber team. Gentry is a nice guy, but seriously you wouldn't love him so much to choose playing for him over Popovich, Jackson, Van Gundy or even George Karl.
