Bosh for Bynum steaming up

I'm starting to hear a lot more about this, and in a recent chat, Chad Ford discussed it as well.

Anyone in the Lakers front office get excited when they were on Bosh's list?
No, because they knew about this in February. The Raptors and Lakers had the parameters of a deal in place for a Bosh for Bynum deal. LA eventually pulled out because they were unsure how the addition of Bosh would affect chemistry mid-season and they were concerned that Bosh could bolt via free agency in the summer. Both concerns should go away this summer and the two teams agreed to revisit talks after the playoffs ended. They are in a very good position to land Bosh if that's where he wants to play. It's the Raptors first choice among the sign-and-trade options available to them.

C - Gasol

PF - Bosh

SF - Artest

SG - Kobe

PG - Fisher

Bench - Odom, Brown, doesn't matter

Can you imagine all of the isolations we could run? Who do you double? Plus, both Bosh and Gasol can hit their shots, so it opens the post up to Kobe and Ron. YES.

I need this to happen. This would be amazing for us.

I would have to start cheering for the Lakers if this happened :(

Anyways I hope this goes down, it is the best case scenario for both teams, I am almost 100% certain this deal will occur if the Lakers do not win the championship.

Also BFT made a good point the other day, that while this is Kobe's team now and probably for another year or two, two years from now the Lakers will still have a 27 or 28 year old Bosh who they can primarily run the offense through, can they count on Bynum to be that guy? This deal would keep their championship window open wider and longer, and Bosh would be able to become the primary offensive option within a couple years on the NBA's biggest team, which would definitely sooth his ego after a couple years of a secondary role.

Their lane intimidation and overall defense would probably suffer with this trade, but no team could touch them on the offensive end of the floor, Bosh would fit into the offense perfectly.

I love Bynum, but you just can't pass this deal up. I'm sure Bynum wouldn't mind either, really. If we win the title again this year, he'll have two rings under his belt, and he might just want to spread his wings and be the main guy on a team of his own.

Do it Mitch!

Im not a big fan of this deal either. Bosh is pretty bad on defense and when you have Pau-Bosh as your two main guys defensively then its going to be a struggle. Plus then Pau becomes our only center. With Drew we have flexibility and we can rotate Bynum/Pau at the center position plus use Odom for a lot of minutes as well. If we got Bosh we would be a powerhouse offensive team no question about it, but our defense would be average and we wouldnt have any depth. Pau is a good defender but I would not want him having to play defense on the opposing teams best big man every night.

However Bynum doesnt do much good when he commits stupid fouls and spends the whole game on the bench, not to mention how injury prone he is. I would consider this deal just based on the fact that Bynum is such a failure and has a terrible attitude.

If Lakers win, why change?

A lot of people will ask that. If they win a title this season, I wonder if they will be asking why we let go of Ariza and brought in Ron Artest.

Last year, in the NBA Finals, Gasol was defending Howard most of the time. In fact, Drew did nothing but suck the entire series.

GM1 vs. Orlando: 22 minutes, 9 PTS, 3-8 FG (38%), 9 REB, 1 BLK, 4 FLS

GM2 vs. Orlando: 16 minutes, 5 PTS, 2-5 FG (40%), 1 REB, 2 BLK, 5 FLS

GM3 vs. Orlando: 23 minutes, 4 PTS, 2-6 FG (33%), 4 REB, 0 BLK, 2 FLS

GM4 vs. Orlando: 16 minutes, 6 PTS, 2-3 FG (67%), 2 REB, 0 BLK, 5 FLS

GM5 vs. Orlando: 17 minutes, 6 PTS, 3-11 FG (27%), 5 REB, 0 BLK, 5 FLS

We got to the Finals in 2008 without him logging a single minute in the playoffs. We won a title in 2009 with Bynum barely playing, and playing badly when he did.

We definitely don't need Drew. The myth about having some big guy in the middle doesn't make much sense. Drew has always been late rotating over to contest shots, his one-on-one defense is average at best, and with him in and out of the lineup, we don't need it anymore.

I could care less if he had given us 30 PPG and 15 RPG when Gasol was out...the point was, Gasol was out. When Pau is in the five, Bynum's attitude changes, and so does his game.

Get it done Mitch! Bynum is just a big body in the paint and nothing more. Bynum still isn't discipline defensively and commits a lot of dumb fouls. Offensively he has the potential, but I'd rather not wait while Kobe still has a couple strong seasons left in him. I'm not too worried about the defense part, no team would be able to stop our offense if everything works out as planned. What worries me is how we would spread the shots among Kobe, Pau, and Bosh. Pau has already made it clear that he wants more touches, and we all know that Bosh has been accustomed to the being the #1 option on offense his whole carrer. I wonder what Kobe's take on this situation is?

I would be interested to see how Bosh plays primarily off the ball, typically he gets it 15 feet away from the basket, holds it for 5-8 seconds, jab steps a couple times, then drives to the hole or pulls up or steps back. I have no doubt he could be an amazing player for the Lakers if he accepts the role of getting his buckets off of Kobe creating but I don't know how he would react to less isolation plays. I think Kobe would have to give up some shots to appease Bosh and Pau, if they add Bosh, Kobe cannot be taking over 20 shots anymore.

Adding Bosh gives them a primary offensive option they can use when Kobe is on the bench, let him rest some more for once, Bosh can dominate a game (offensively of course) on his own for stretches while Kobe is on the bench. Adding Bosh gives them someone who can carry the load offensively during the stretches when Kobe can't. If Bosh can set his ego aside and not worry about his stats, the Lakers will win multiple titles with him there, it doesn't even matter that he is 2 inches and 30 pounds lighter than Bynum.

I just hope for the Raptors' sake, Bynum can get relatively healthy, because I think he will thrive in a role where the Raptors are his team, or where he is getting 15 shots a night at least. I hope this deal happens so Bosh can win a couple NBA titles, even if it means I have to cheer for the Lakers.

the question is:

why the hell would Toronto do this? To ensure they get something in exchange for Bosh?

Because Bynum is the 2nd or 3rd best Center in the East if he is healthy, and is a solid compliment to Bargnani compared to Bosh. He is obviously an inferior player, but compared to losing Bosh for nothing, this is awesome.
