fish7718
New York Post - The Mets have acquired outfielder Jeff Francouer from the Braves in exchange for Ryan Church. ....I hate Jeff Francouer, I'm surprised the Mets and Braves would deal with eachother I guess Minaya doesn't know the rivalry [LINK]
xx.
This deal makes no sense... all I know is that the Braves fans are happy they let him go.
Phightins
This trade makes very little sense to me. Two underachieving outfielders (although one far more underachieving than the other). Francouer is still very young, so I guess the Mets are holding out hope that he will some day figure it out.
Universe
I wish we didn't give up this fast on Jeff Francouer. Church is just as bad.
fish7718
Church would have been an all star last year if that scum bag yunel escobar didnt knee him in the head

Paul
now i cant take a date to the game. thats the only reason they like going is to see frenchy. i wouldn't be suprised if we packaged church for a bigger outfielder though.
Cobb
I heard about this on ESPN but went to Yahoo and couldn't find anything on it. I bet you that Francouer will start to heat up now that he's on a different team.
fish7718
^ lolHe was hitting .307 with 10 HR's an .882 OPS and was playing like a gold glover right field. He was probably our MVP up until the injury.
bigdog17k
Uhhhhmmmmm, wut? I saw some Mets games this year, particularly the subway series and Church looked fine.

fish7718
Jeff Francoeur's first at bat Bases loaded, 1 out. 1-1 Pitch, lofted into right field for 2 RBI's . I still miss Church.
elcheato
Dumb trade for the Mets. Francouer's on base percentage is barely better then Church's batting average. Francouer rarely walks, is not patient and just really isn't much of a hitter. Edited July 12, 2009 by elcheato
fish7718
Agreed, Francoeur has a .280 OBP last year I mean find the worst hitter in your teams line up and look at his OBP that will show you just how bad Francoeur has been. I like the trade if the Mets send Jeff down the minors and let him get back to fundamentals and learning how to be patient because it is becoming obvious you can't have this in your line up during a pennant race.
