I Recently Asked My Friend's Little Girl

Recommended Posts

I recently asked my friends' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do? '

She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.'

Her parents beamed.

'Wow...what a worthy goal.' I told her, 'But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that.. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and rake my yard, and I'll pay you $50.

Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, ' Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?

I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

:drunk: .

That would suck if the homeless guy had diabetes, had eye and circulation problems, and didn't have family to help him through it.

But I suppose this is assuming all homeless people are healthier than we are.

Lol, I think this is hilarious.

And true that would suck Real Deal, but that's an exception and seems like a very rare outlier.

Exceptions are a big deal. If there were 40 terrorists in a cabin, and they were holding two American kids hostage, I wouldn't go blow up the cabin because most of them are terrorists.

There's always a way around things. People aren't set on making the world a better place, they are set on making it an easier place to live in.

Problem is, making it easier to live in doesn't help those who have already hit rock bottom, and really have no means of standing back up on their own.

It's generic and simple to say it can be done by anybody. It's more complicated to figure out a way to help those who deserve it.

Most don't like complicated.

The problem is either we make those exceptions the foundation for our rule or we make the general public the foundation for the rule. Its one or the other and the problem is government doesn't seem to like to make exceptions for certain people and not for others. Greed is a major contributor to this. People don't want to make exceptions for people if they don't benefit from it. For example healthcare, and though I agree if someone is wealthy and they pay the extra taxes for a healthcare system for everyone and then they have to pay for their own as well is ridiculous to be expected. However if people were not greedy they could say no thank you and pay for their own. The problem is the exception cannot create the rule yet people are too greedy to let the exception have a rule in itself.

Those homeless people can be managed. If tens of thousands of sports fans can be managed pre-game, so can the homeless.

People take advantage of everything. Many rich people dodge taxes. Many CEO's have dug their hands in company profits. Many losers have gotten on Medicaid, despite not deserving it.

Political parties like to sway the public's decisions based on the people they help. They could care less about helping EVERYONE, and that's why America (and the world) is the way it is today.

I wasn't saying it couldn't Real, I was just saying greed has a huge problem and like you said because the parties could care less about everyone. The United States knows how to screw people better then any country. The car companies are a great example as instead of putting money back into their cars they put their money from their profits straight to their ceo's and now their companies have suffered big time.

A lot of the homeless people are there because of their own mistakes.

That's a tough assumption to make considering you and I combined probably know one to five percent of the homeless people personally.

Though this pasting was eye opening and interesting. Thanks for posting.
