Like Boston made adjustments to us, we will make adjustments to them.

Particularly, the Boston backcourt needs to be better contained. It'll be tough to get around those screens to get to Ray Allen, but Lakers will make sure that is focal point on their defense. Also, we're probably not going to let Rondo get that many rebounds again. Boston's frontcourt is the lesser of their two evils so I think we're going to make them pass the ball to their bigs.

On offense, we just need to do a better job of keeping the ball away from Artest.

Im pretty sure Gasol had a little finger tip on the ball at the end, which the picture doesnt show.

So Garnett and Gasol's hands both just stopped moving, and Gasol's fingertip decided to creep in and push the ball out of bounds? That ball was out on Garnett. Every finger in the photo is sitting behind Kevin's, and during the replay, Jackson and Van Gundy both called it Lakers ball, and believed it was 100% going to be overturned.

Big call that led to a five-point deficit, instead of our ball with a three point deficit.

Yea, when I saw that live, I was in awe that they didn't overturn that. Seriously, it cannot get more obvious that that was out on Garnett. They even REVIEWED IT for crying out loud. God, that call truly sums up the refereeing during these Finals.

Yeah, the fact that they reviewed it and still got the call wrong is what was really sad about that play.

But still, the Lakers loss was completely on them, not the refs. Both teams got raped by the officials last night, and if anything Boston was on the wrong end of it more often than the Lakers were.

Yeah, exactly. If you watch the whole play, Garnett has it basically in his hands, and Gasol's finger pushes it out.

Just go to that post that Guru or whoever put up, and watch the play at around 3. You can see Gasol's finger pushing it out of Garnett's hand.

Yeah looks like Gasol touches it, you can see his finger there.

You do realize that Garnett has a bandage on his finger?

I mean, seriously, Gasol would have to have a pretty damn long finger for him to touch it from where his hand is.

I don't know, it depends on the angle. If you look at it from the back, it seems like it came off Garnett. If you look at it from the angel I posted it seems to me Gasol's finger pushes it out. And I just watched a side view of it and I can't tell clearly. It went by fast and I can't tell who last touched the ball. Very close though. I might have to give it to the Lakers from that side angle, but maybe the refs thought it was inconclusive and decided not to overturn the call.

Also, let's not forget the horrible defense by the Lakers that came from that play. They left Rondo wide open.

Either way, Boston deserved the win in my opinion. The calls were bad either way.

How can anyone look at that and say it's inconclusive? Garnett's hand is in front of Gasol's. Clear as [expletive]ing day. I'm starting to think that people just see what they want to see, and those who are pulling for the Celtics are going to say it went off Gasol or it's inconclusive no matter what.

This is reminding me of that video with LeBron and the towel boy, when LBJ clearly did not see him yet people still called him an [expletive] hole. Mainly LeBron haters, and I don't like LeBron myself yet I could see the video clearly.

Edit: BTW, if it was truly inconclusive it would have been a jump ball. The ref must have mistaken Garnett's taped finger for a finger on Gasol's hand, that's the only explanation I can think of.

Yeah, you can't really tell from that because of the color if it is Garnett's finger with the bandage or Gasol's. It seems to me Gasol's hand pushes on Garnett's and pushes it out, with one of his fingers on the ball last. But from the side angle it seems a bit more conclusive what happened. But I think the refs thought it was inconclusive and kept the call. Either way, Lakers should have played better defense and instead left a wide open jumper from Rondo. I understand he kind of sucks at jumpers but at least have someone near him.

Well, I'm actually not rooting for either team, because I kind of hate both teams. I could care less who wins.

But I don't think it is as clear as you think it is. Watch Gasol's hand motion in that play. It seems he pushes Garnett's hand and I can't tell if one of his fingers touch the ball or not. But if I were calling that, I think I would give it to the Lakers, or as you said just a jump ball.

EDIT: No, I don't think they do jump balls if it is inconclusive. I think if the evidence is inconclusive, they don't overturn the call.

A jumper from Rondo is something the Lakers can live with. They'd rather him do that than give Allen or Rondo himself an open lane to the basket.

Anyway, as much as I complain about refereeing at times, I hardly ever blame losses for them. It was pretty crummy on both sides. The real reasons for the Lakers loss was giving Ray Ray open looks (matching Sasha with him would have helped), Ron Artest getting in ultra chuck mode, and Kobe Bryant getting in foul trouble resulting in limited minutes and non-aggressive play.

I've seen jump balls plenty of times when the refs are unsure of who the ball went out on.
