NomarFachix
Inked Mats Zuccarello Aasen, who was the Swedish league MVP last year with 64 points in 55 games. Nicknamed "The Norwegian Hobbit", lol. Also re-signed Byers, which I can dig. Derek Stepan also signed out of Wisconsin, hopefully this means McDonagh will follow. Will be an interesting offseason for sure, lots of kids fighting for spots and a limited budget. Sather will find some way to [expletive] it up for me. Free agents I'd like to keep? UFA Shelley, Parenteau, maybe Prospal. RFA Staal, Girardi, Prust, maybe Lisin and Christensen. I love it when the playoffs end, because the Rangers season begins fresh
NomarFachix
Rangers linked to Volchenkov; Prospal being tied to Vancouver. I'd do dirty things to get rid of Redden.
Universe
McDonagh I think wants to play another year of college hockey but Pavel Valentenko is returning to play. He's a really good hockey player that thinks too highly of himself. It'll be interesting to see how he reacts to being in the AHL.

I was just about to post about Valentenko, you beat me to it... by 4 days. The Gomez trade keeps getting better and better for us, especially if he can materialize. Also kicking tires on Willie Mitchell, we could use a shut down defender. But, we have no room for defensemen. At all. Unless Sather sacks up and sends Redden to Hartford. NomarFachix
Ok, so the Rangers waived Brashear, good. They also waived Voros, bad. Erik Christianson rejected a 2 year deal at $750k per, uncool. Mikhail Pashnin was apparently the star at prospect developmental camp, surprising. 1st rounder McIlrath compared himself to Willie Mitchell, interesting. Universe
Big fan of McIlrath. He's gonna be something specail if he keeps going at the pace he is improving at.
NomarFachix
Great day for Sather so far, the Biron signing was a great one, we can finally have confidence to start a keeper not named Lundqvist and escape with a win. This should help keep him rested towards the end of the season. Also re-signed Christenson for 2 years at $1.85M per.
Phightins
Marty B is awesome. Great contract for the Rangers. He can be super effective when he isn't the main guy. Really cool dude too. He went to my church when he was a Flyer.
NomarFachix
The Boogeyman is coming! He will lay some massive hits in the Atlantic, and hopefully win some fights too. Can't think of someone more perfect to replace Shelley, though I loved the [expletive] out of Mr. Jody and he will be missed. Hopefully Boogaard continues to improve. Universe
What was the problem with Donald that they needed to get Boog?
NomarFachix
What was the problem with Donald that they needed to get Boog? He is honestly the most empty forward I've ever seen play the game of hockey. He is out there purely to fight, and often times he is unwilling or loses when he goes at it. Absolutely no hockey skills whatsoever in the man, he's a shell of whatever he was. When a thug can't intimidate or fight, he is of 0 value. Still smh that we let Betts go to sign him. Such a failure of a goon.
NomarFachix
Welcome back Prospal, one year deal, $1M base with $1.1M in bonuses

Phightins
Not trying to take a jab at the Rangers or anything here, honest...but when I saw that Boogaard contract, it made me feel a lot better about the deal the Shelley contract. NomarFachix
Then you might not like watching Boogard on the ice this year. He can at least enforce. Brashear was a laugher.
NomarFachix
Prust re-signed 2 years, $1.6M, and McDonagh is on his way! Rejoice!
Universe
They say McD won't even play in the AHL, just straight to the second line pairing? Is that true?
NomarFachix
They say McD won't even play in the AHL, just straight to the second line pairing? Is that true? Sorry, didn't see this... He'll have a good shot to make the roster... Staal, Girardi, Del Zotto, Rozsival are near locks to make the roster, and if they send down Redden to Hartford, I like Gilroy and McDonagh to round out the roster. It wouldn't be hard for him to top at least Gilroy and Rozsival in the rotation.

NomarFachix
Traded Voros and Ryan Hillier to the Ducks for Steve Eminger. A meh deal, makes me think they don't want to push McDonagh to make the club out of camp. They may have pushed Gilroy too hard last year and don't want to do it again. NomarFachix
Frolov on a one year deal expected to be less than the $2.9M he earned last year. Throw him on the 2nd line, I'll welcome a possible 30 goals any day.
NomarFachix
Traded Donald 'The Waste' Brashear and Patrick Rissmiller for Todd White. If White is healthy, yay. If not, I hope he enjoys Hartford or retires. Either way, Brashear is out, and I am happy.
Phightins
Brashear to Atlanta makes me laugh. Anybody else notice a theme going on down there with the Thrashers?
Universe
Redden was waived so either AHL or elsewhere.
